basically you can beat bad teams with talent

you need coaching and schemes to beat teams on equal or better talent level than you.

so basically we are munching on the dregs of the NBA because we have enough talent....but get exposed with any team that is on our level or better.

there is no variety in this team...no adjustments being made.

The same things that plagued us in game 1 of the season are still plaguing us in game 81.

Simply poorly coached.

Exactly, we are good but predictable. Therefore fairly easy to stop / slow down

Please miss me with the conspiracy theories about wanting to drop on purpose. This team simply has zero testicular fortitude. How many times are they going to let teams come back from a decent 4th quarter deficit?

People were too quick to act like this with this team.

It's because everyone was knew their roles by the time Julius was injured. The offense would go through Julius for the 1st three quarters on catch and shoot attempts, and Jalen would be the closer.

This season everyone is deferring to Jalen when KAT should be the #1 option and playing the same role as Julius, then let Jalen be the closer in the 4th quarter.

JB was a lot better and faster last year. He can barely blow by anyone now

I have been very critical of this team but this comment is full of **** and lacks zero nuance.

He had no problems blowing by people pre-ankle injury. He was playing at a 2nd all nba team level before that Lakers game.

He has not looked the same since coming back.

Because he literally takes the air out of the ball.

I love the guy but I just hate how he hasn’t adjusted his game at all when this team clearly plays better when we’re running, not walking the ball up and literally just beating the 8sec violation every time he brings it up.

I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt because he’s proven to be a superstar imo and the game slows down in the playoffs, so maybe it’ll be more effective when it matters most… we’ll see

Exactly. Most of the shots he is making a so damn tough that it’s a slight miracle they’re going in.

Playing fast off the back of stops and the ball swinging around was going great there during his injury.

You can’t say people need urgency. Like asking someone to get up and dance from their hospital bed

Doesn’t work like that

The patient and / or the doctors can’t get the patient up

I feel like he wasn’t guarded by bigger guys in the regular season last year as much as this year, he’s being pressured bringing the ball up the court, forced to play with his back to the basket a lot on the perimeter to protect the ball from the lengthier defenders, and has to fight when off the ball because teams are super physical with him knowing that we have 1 play in the half court and it’s called iso Brunson and let him figure it out

I was personally worried that he was coming back a little too early after the injury, just to play the necessary required games and minutes to qualify for all NBA awards. I understand he wants to get some burn in real games before the playoffs, but that was my concern and still is.

the other thing I can stand is thibs also never blames himself. He always throws someone else under the bus or blames the media for not "knowing" enough ball to question him.

A good coach would say we need to play better and I need to coach better. It starts with me. He has never once called into question his coaching or schemes. Which means he's stubborn and no adaptable that is an issue!

I've been feeling this for a while but maybe the Knicks are just not that good/talented. And I'm not even talking about this year roster vs last year's roster. I honestly feel like last year's team greatly overachieved and because of it, we got duped into thinking that they were actually talented/good. Because regardless of how you feel about this year's team compared to last year's team, almost every key player from last year's team has done worse this year.
Brunson is worse, OG is worse, bench players like McBride, Achiuwa are preforming worse. Players that are out of the team are performing worse like Randle, Donte. The only two that are playing better/keeping pace are Hart and iHart.
Reminds me of that Sacramento team a few years ago where everyone thought that they were going to be the new wave, only to regress after that one year.

Hopefully some of it is rust.

There is a fair chance that his moves are very well known around the league now and defenders are adjusting accordingly.

Cam Payne minutes really killed us tonight, Delon gotta see the floor in the playoffs and use Payne situationally (I know wishful thinking)
