I gotta go with a Lefty that has a high BBIQ, and can score. Isaiah Thomas was a Lefty, and pick #60.
He's got to learn our Defense a bit better. And, though he came along slowly, he's looking like a steal at #30.

Even so, there's something sinister about them.

I thought he was Doug McDermott-lite in summer league. I think he is scrappier than Doug and not as good an outside shooter. He may be better - not sure yet.

Baylor's a guard, Doug's a forward who is averaging 0.1 assists this season.

But they're both white.

I was way too optimistic with BS prior to the season. I thought he'd be our 10th man from the jump.

As it turns out, he's been our 10th man in terms of minutes since the all-star break, playing in more games than Brown, Porzingis, and Horford.

He'll figure in the regular rotation more next season esp when one or more of the key guys this season gets traded / is let go.

Doug was Naismith college player of the year and a lottery pick. He is also roughly the same size at 6-5. He is washed up now but at age 24 was an NBA rotation player. It’s not an unfavorable comparison.

McDermott was a chunky/solid dude who was an exceptionally pure shooter and not much else.

He'll be fine. He's still a rookie, securing his footing. But was second in minutes and plus-minus today despite the shooting. They are not using him right when he's playing with PP on the PP warpath.

I would have titled the thread something like "Baylor is looking like a potential rotation player down the road". Or just put that post in his "Welcome to Boston" thread

Regardless, his season is a W for the team so far. And not because he shot the ball particularly well, which I guess is a promising(?) outcome.

We are conditioned to only look at field goal percentage when evaluating players/prospects. His shot does not look broken to me. He just needs more reps shooting the ball. I'm really not worried about his shooting at all. Left handed players are almost always very effective shooters.

This is correct. He is NOT a spot up player like Hauser. It's obvious that he has on ball pop and needs the ball in his hands. He is a very crafty/creative player who has a little Manu Ginobili in his game.

I'm not seeing a rotation player I'm seeing a legit starter down the road. This dude has real skills. I made the thread because I'm not sure if everyone else is seeing it yet but I certainly do.

Very good comparison.

I think Manu played soccer at a high level when he was younger. If so, that definitely helped his athleticism the same way football did for Rico.
