You obviously do this in a vacuum to get a player as good as Luka.... but the chances the team is good enough to keep Luka long term is where you run into the issues. He is a FA after next year.

Re: Fake Trade Thread #6
i would have sent over Melo and so many picks that the Mavs would've been able to pry AD from the Lakers in the offseason after the Lakers flamed out.
absolutely nothing on this team would be off the table

If a top 10 NBA player is on the table, it really doesn't matter what you give up in most cases. Yes, there is certainly risk with his contract status looming but the risk is worth it if that's what we're giving up.

Worth considering, particularly if other assets are included. Giddy is younger and has been a triple double machine since being thrust into the Bulls starting line up after they jettisoned Lavine.

Part of the reason they dumped LaVine (other than recovery of their 1st owed the Spurs) was because they want to reinvest in their guard rotation, particularly Giddey (and Coby White) who are due large raises very soon.
The odd man out over there is Ayo Dosunmu, who has 1 year left himself. Hornets have his spot covered with Tre Mann, but question marks linger. And the Hornets seem interested in extending an audition to NSJ.

We get the #2 pick
Bridges/Mark/#2 pick/Mia 1st for Booker
Melo/Booker/Miller is the new core and we build around them.

Re: Fake Trade Thread #6
Suns can't get Harper for Booker. No chance the team selecting 1 or 2 trades the pick unless Giannis is on the go.
Pick 3 though makes more sense for Booker. I wouldn't add much though. I'd toss away Green, Grant, and Salaün as matching salary.

I'd cough up a pick or two or Bridges to turn #3 or #4 into Booker, but not Mark. Wouldn't trade #2 unless it was a straight swap... and even then I'd have to carefully consider

Mark and Nick back on the same team again like fate, lol.
Booker is a great target, Suns would be smart to blow it up and cash in on Booker while his value is still peak.

Trey Murphy III & Herb Jones over Zion, definitely. Have to think about boom-or-bust and we just busted pick 6. To follow that with a bust megadeal is catastrophic. We are not in a good gambling position. No panic buying please.

Adding Zion is the opposite of 'not skipping steps' as Peterson claimed he'd be doing this offseason.

forgive me for not giving a **** about GM speak after listening to Kupchak's drivel about being patient and building through the draft only to punt the whole thing out the window when he got a chance to sign Hayward

Re: Fake Trade Thread #6
I am not 100% opposed to trading for Zion, but I disagree with trading a top 5 pick for him.
I would prefer not to have my entire off-season be centered around if Zion can be healthy next year....
Now if we land a top 3 pick and take Harper or Fears for instance... then yeah maybe you throw a few future draft picks into a deal for Zion and hope to connect. but I really can't get behind an entire tank season to toss the asset into trading for a guy that plays even fewer games than our injured stars in Melo, Miller, Mark etc...

Re: Fake Trade Thread #6
I only trade for Zion if we don't get a top 3 pick.
People may say LaMelo and Zion can't stay healthy. But we wouldn't be committed to Zion long term. The thing is when Zion plays he's a all-star caliber player. The problem is he like Melo can't stay healthy.
Zion is the kind of player who will put fans in the seats and give the franchise new excitement. If we can't get Flagg/Harper/Bailey why not go get Zion. No other player in this draft will bring the talent Zion brings.

Who are we bidding against that is offering up a top 5 pick for Zion though?
"Several Teams are interested in trading for 2x All-Star Zion Williamson including the Los Angeles Lakers, Phoenix Suns, Atlanta Hawks, and the Charlotte Hornets."
We don't need to offer that to beat the offers of Lakers, Suns, Hawks who maybe pick 14th at the highest.
Jazz, Wizards, Pelicans are other 3 worst teams...
