It's clear that a lot of why people don't engage with the voting process are much as wack stated: it can be difficult and time-consuming to not only decide on a winner, but also put your forth reasoning in a way that makes sense and covers all the important points. And even then, it still creates contention if people think you haven't given their team a fair shake. In my experience, when someone is dead set that they should win, they generally aren't interested in reading an explanation they completely disagree with; in fact it often just leads to more futile back-and-forth.

Previously I was concerned that we wouldn't be able to see who was voting, but that this point I'm not sure how much that matters. If anything, having more voters, even anonymous ones, should create a more balanced view compared to just having the same 5 or 6 people who vote on every matchup.

I'm agree this would be a good method. At least worth a try. Only possible concern is I hope we don't get situations like someone voting for his own team, while the other doesn't engage in the vote itself. That could be a tiebreaker in a matchup that should otherwise be tied. A point worth considering.

In a Facebook group for example it's not an issue because votes aren't anonymous. In realgm it is.

The only way these games will get back to and have any real merit is to have independent voters and not first to three or four votes but, depending on the number of voters and interest, at least half the votes wins. More time is needed for votes, not 24hrs, just not enough time for any merit.

This year's version of Ja Morant might be the first time he's going to be value for money if he keeps the current pace. 15.6 fga with Memphis also has nice team success. He'll still struggle to stand out relatively to other historical guys with better value for money. But we still might get to see him more in this price.

Only question is will he play enough games?

What's the verdict on the polling system thus far?

I definitely prefer it as a participant, I think it encourages more votes (we have 9 or 10 in almost all matchups as opposed to often 4-6 before) which in principle is always a positive, and I think it's a positive for those running the games so you don't have to track down voters and a matchup is delayed for days. And AI seems to do it's part to be the tiebreaker vote when needed - it's not perfect but I think it's better than the matchup dragging on and people getting agitated waiting for the next round to start.

I don't mind it, though I liked the extra input from votes with obligatory reasoning.

Regarding AI votes I think it's great

The limited discussion is the only downside to me, although you could argue that was often the case anyway. It's definitely an easier format to run and far less contentious.

I’ve learned a lot over the years from votes- it’s informative to know WHY you lost.

I guess, although I frequently found myself disagreeing pretty vehemently with the reasoning and thinking I wouldn't have changed what I did regardless.

What that said, I would like to see a bit more discussion even if it doesn't lead to an actual vote.

We've quietly relapsed to the days when we were struggling to get 10 people for a draft...

After several years on the forum, some parts of your online personalities just stick - so I figured… why not capture them with some lovingly exaggerated portraits?

All in good fun - but this is how I see you guys  No shade, all love.

Ahem. I'll have you know I made a final with Magic a few weeks ago.

The Ariza poster is accurate.

Good stuff. I think I lead the forum in invalid picks by a long shot.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

DB missed a real opportunity to call me out for always bewailing my draft position.

The picking at the very end of my clock thing is well observed though.

Nice graphics! I swear there was a time when I started I put a lot of effort into write ups

I'll always appreciate this forum for having such distinct personalities and behaviour. To get on my soapbox, in the heyday of message boards like the 2000s and early 2010s they all used to be like this, even without the competition aspect people had such obvious patterns, identities, taste/way of speaking, etc. Whereas if you go onto the most popular modern message board, Reddit, it doesn't feel like that at all. I think they may not like individuals that much there or something. The rest of RealGM is somewhat of a window to the past even though I think it had more character and energy in previous era, but T&T draft board the feeling jumps out to me the most of anywhere nowadays of being able to sense people's "style".
