Hawks fans seem to say pretty good things about Landry Fields. Wouldn’t mind bringing him here as GM and letting James Jones be assistant or something.

The Phoenix GM role comes with a shiny pair of golden handcuffs. They will have to revamp a team that has a $50m+ untradeable contract, not many draft picks between now and beyond 2031, and fairly high expectations from a franchise player in his prime and a very enthusiastic owner who overpromises and thus far under delivered.
BUT that GM will likely get paid very well. I don't think we're poaching any good GM's from their current position, unless it's Nico.

what do you mean small stuff?
Depends on the team.
Houston- Jalen Green and a pick.
Miami- Jovic, J³ and our pick (we keep #20)
OKC- Any number of ways to go.
I don't think Detroit is an option for Durant and not sure how Minny can even get Durant. NYC would probably have to be a Durant solo deal.

No way you just said “good GM” and Nico in the same sentence. Cmon man.

Speaking of Nico, this is a pretty good read on how stuff went down for the Mavs. Probably the most bizarre storyline and trade that’s ever made in league history.

The 2nd Apron which both NY and Minny are in also makes things complicated. I'm not totally clear on how cap holds work in the offseason in relation to 2nd apron calcs either so I just find both teams really difficult to try and come up with ideas for, not to mention the lack of draft capital either teams have to offer. I also don't see Detroit wanting to go all in on a KD right now.
On Zion, I still would prefer all the assets you listed above over Zion. Literally the only deal I want for Zion is one where Beal is involved otherwise I'm out

Yeah, reading it back, I realise it didn’t come out the way I meant. What I was trying to say is that we’re not poaching any current GMs—especially not good ones. I tossed in Nico as a joke at the last second, and didn't reread the sentence and it did totally derail the point of my post. I didn't intend to put good GM and Nico together, only that Nico was an incumbent GM.
My bad

Ishbia needs to start building a roster of players that complement each other and not just names he has heard of with big contracts so he can always say "see, I told you we will spend whatever to win a title.."
I still am hoping a strategic substance trade or style points

And that would work great for the Lakers yet again as Harrison would likely trade Booker to LA for salary fillers and a future protected 1st or something to help out his lifelong buddy Pelinka.
And the only saving grace would be that Ishbia would never let Booker go and disband his Michigan " Boys club" he's built around himself, Isaiah Thomas, and Booker.
Harrison will have a front office position waiting for him with the Lakers or the league office if he's ever fired.

Surprisingly enough, the Knicks aren't actually in the 2nd apron yet:
His tweet is almost as long as some of my responses....lol. And a lot to unpack and parse through, but apparently they're currently under the 2nd apron and with what he points out about KAT, is the exact reason why I strongly believe the Knicks would adamantly do a 1 for 1 swap of KD for KAT.

Knicks and Rockets getting booted is the best possible outcome. Also, Miami putting up a competitive series should add them in the mix as well. Dallas should already have KD on their radar, and anything short of winning a championship will put Denver in the mix too.
All these teams have interesting assets available.
Miami is a big one too
They just landed the 20th pick from Golden state giving them the 20th pick overall. But in a KD trade, I'd also want their 26' unprotected. So perhaps instead of grabbing their 20th pick in this draft, I'd take these picks. MIA 26' unprotected 1st/ MIA 28' top 5 protected 1st??
Miami doesn’t have their picks. They have them tied up in a trade for Rozier until 28.
I personally don’t think KD gets this bidding war yall think he does and I’m one of his biggest fans. Houston seems to be a fantasy Phoenix media is floating out there. He’s not going to Detroit. He’s going to choose his destination and pretty much all the teams he was interested in going to at the deadline have their picks tied up but the Spurs.

If KD is smart he goes to the Spurs. Perfect environment to stay in the shadow and operate.
If Suns are smart they keep him and let him rot for his failures.

this would be an Ishbia trade
not really improve the depth of the roster and flexibility with trades - meaning a 1:1 trade
The suns need draft picks and some rotational players
Booker can handle the scoring - build the roster around him
plus get some draft picks back

Oh, I feel like Suns may get a bidding war for KD if Knicks and Rockets both end up getting booted in the 1st round.

I don't think the Knicks have much as far as picks, which makes them less attractive to trade with in my opinion. If we want a full on bidding war though we need the Knicks, Rockets, Nuggets, TWolves, and Bucks to flame out.

NOW if they are looking for another scoring option without giving up much.....we have a Beal to sell them.
Seems like Knicks fans are turning on Mikal too.

That's the most important thing. But not Ishbia: it has to be the GM and his helpers.
Watching the Pistons, which I have not seen much this year, I see a group of players who are two undersized centres who cannot shoot, no power forwards, players that nobody wanted and a good player in Cunningham who plays point forward. Players with the desire to compete. They are not going to win the East. Their top aspiration this year is going to the second round and lose with some dignity then. But you can see how they are going to evolve from there.
We need something like that or either we need to risk and acquire some players who are risky to use as the basement for a franchise. Zion, for that matter. Then the PG we could add could be any of the Ball brothers. They are long, can defend anybody, could have a different role beside Booker and can offer some pause in our game and with the character and experience to decide who has to get the ball at each moment.

No matter what - Ishbia needs to allow them the vision and time to turn this team around.
I truly think they need two years -- building for the summer of 2027 --
so trying to move off Allen and O'neale for expirings
not doing something stupid with Beal but just letting him expire
Truly, have a two year plan -- no short term fixes - enough of that nonsense

Shocked Beal isn’t #1 but I guess the list is about “overrated” and not as much “overpaid”. Bit surprised Booker didn’t get any votes.

So glad we didn't draft that overrated bum.

SHAZAM!
Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.
