I think Gomez was the pitcher that Wingo mentied several pages ago. A guy the Mets successfully hid from the competition so he sipped through rule 5.

Some early prmotis
Ewing is a fun prospect, probably in the Mets top 20 range, not a top guy, but he's hitting 400 and he's drawn 15 walks to 10 Ks. He's obviously too advanced for low A. He's also stolen 14 bases in 18 games. He's the type of speed/contact/OBP hitter that's easy to like if he can keep it up.
I don't know a thing about Marsh. He was an undrafted signing last year, barely pitched in 2024 but 2025 so far, 10.2 innings in relief, 14 Ks, 1 walks, 2 hits. 0.00 ERA, 0.281 WHIP. That'll play.
Marco Vargas was one of the players the Mets got in the David Robertson trade with the Marlins in 2023. Highway robbery considering how poorly Robertso pitched for them down the stretch. He dealt with injuries and time on the injured list last year, but he's cruising this year. Like Ewing, he's hitting 400, (409 actualy), with 10 walks to 7 Ks. Looking too good for low A. He aslo draws a ton of walks.
Zach Thornton, anohter one I don't know much about but he's got great numbers so far. Drafted in the 5th round in 2023, his numbers last year were so-so. over 68 innings, low A and high A. This year in high A, 4 starts, 20.2 innings, 25 Ks, 2 walks, 12 hits 0.44 ERA for the Cyclones so far.
And finaly, Ryan Lambert, drafted in the 8th round last year so this is his first full season in minor league ball. People at AA have raived about him some, saying he has closer potential. 8 innings in relief, 17 Ks, 1 walk and 3 hits. 0.500 WHIP, 1.13 ERA. The 19 Ks per 9 is nice.
And finally a shout-out to Jonah Tong, who's not been great this year, but his outing yesterday was sexy 4 innings, 1 hit, 1 walk 10Ks. It's be nice to see a few more starts like that for JT.
and in other, other news, the Mets got revenge against the Nationals, beating them 19-5 on 21 hits and homers by Vientos, McNeil and 2 by Nimmo to split the series, 2-2, though the 2 losses were nearly wins. At least it's a good ending, especialy after last night's ugly game. McNeil began the game in CF. Lindor & Soto left the game, but I think that was just resting them and defensive replacement for Soto with a big lead.
Jose Urena pitched a glorious save. 3 innings, 7 hits, 5 earned runs, but 3 innings and finishing the game gets him the save, it wouldn't have mattered if he'd given up 10 runs. He keeps the bullpen fresh for tomorow, which is a plus.
Bill Clinton slept with an intern. A consenting adult and he got impeached and nearly disbarred as a result. Donald Trump went to parties showcasing underaged women brought in as basically prostitutes, and he says it's nothing.
Double standard?
