I agree. If we don't win the Flagg sweepstakes, package the pick for Giannis.

Seriously. We're further away then we were a few years ago when we were going after Dame and KD when we had like 4 NBA players on the roster.
Even if we somehow stole him, we're not doing anything with him.
Give the bench 2 more years to get to a competitive level, add a few more pieces, and then we'll be ready for top tier guy.

Top Tier players aren't available all the time, you don't get to pick and choose when the right time is to get them.
The likelihood is we won't get him and also that the current roster won't do anything either, doesn't mean you don't try anyways.

Who hasn't been available?
Players traded since 2019:
Kawhi (finals MVP, DPOY)
Paul George (Top 5 MVP candidate)
James Harden (former MVP)
Anthony Davis (4x all NBA 1st team)
Luka Doncic (MVP candidate)
Donovan Mitchell (MVP candidate)
Rudy Gobert (4x DPOY)
Kevin Durant (Former MVP)
Kyrie (9x all star, 2nd team All NBA)
Towns (All NBAer)
Dame (All NBAer)
Jimmy Butler (All NBAer)
Fox + Haliburton + Sabonis (All NBA teams)
+ Now Giannis.
There's more elite players on this list than off it at this point.

It’s obvious the Magic will make a move for PG this offseason. They have 4 picks, but there’s no way they will bring 4 rookies in - a trade is inevitable.
They need shooting and backcourt creation. Their core is in their early to mid 20s, and it would be great to get someone who matches their timeline.
The Raptors
The Raptors are in a much earlier stage of team building cycle. They really like Quickley:17 & 7 with good shooting, and locked for 4 years. But they should be open to shopping him if they get a package that makes the team better.
The Raps FO seems to love this draft. They’ve been scouting guys in person who are around the ORL #16 pick (eg Traore, Demin). They also seem to love guys like Anthony Black - 6’7, smart and versatile.
Here’s the trade:
Immanuel Quickley for Anthony Black, #16, salary (KCP)
The Raptors could go Maluach #7 + Traore/Demin #16, and get a complete team that can grow:
Black / Traore
Barrett / KCP / Jakobe
Ingram / Dick / Ochai
Barnes /
Poeltl / Maluach
+#39
Good luck scoring on that length.
We would have pure scorers (Ingram, Barrett, Dick)
And disruptive defenders (Scottie, Maluach, Black, Ochai)
And great 2 way vets (Poeltl, KCP)
And high upside young guards (Jakobe, Traore)
This is Masai’s vision.

This is cr*p, you're taking away even more shooting for "potential".

he's just salary filler. the goal is the frp in a deep draft. and Black or preferably whoever you can flip him for. Anthony is nice. Just a horrible fit on this team. I guess I just don't have faith in IQ like you do.
edit: he was horrible in the playoffs now that i look so maybe you have a point.

And he makes 22 million the next 2 years. And plays a position that we have lots of depth that need to play.
We are looking to win games next year, let's fill the backup C spot and have a great draft and see how the pieces play together. Then we can make moves based on that.

If we draft Maluach, the backup C is filled.
It’s actually ideal to pair Poeltl’s contract with a rookie contract at C. Poeltl will be looking for a raise next year.
Black is the exact guy that Masai tends to like: 6’7, high IQ, great defense…and not great shooting lol.
Remember that Ingram will miss a bunch of games. KCP can step in at SF. Then next year he becomes an expiring contract that can be aggregated to make our “real” championship move.
