I'm dead serious. It looks like we basically had one regular season strategy and are now much more team specific in our approach for the playoffs.

He definitely switched much more instead of deploying drop coverage that everyone has been asking for. Thibs the mad genius.

I do think he saved it for the playoffs, too. Thibs holds stuff back.

the man who plays guys entire 2nd half against the CHA on a b2b in the regular season is holding stuff back for the playoffs?

We can be understanding and thankful that Thibs adjusted but he isn't holding anything back during the regular season. That is blasphemy.

Yeah, he literally had no choice, the switching started when Precious came on the floor and then when we had no center on the floor because Mitch was gassed and KAT was in foul trouble. We stumbled into that because of problems, not some tactical idea, you don't wait till you're down 20 to start the master plan that you've been holding onto

There aren't many other plays I've watched over and over more than 20 times. This is just beautiful. And the best part is, if Mikal hadn't been perfect in stealing the ball and got called for a foul, there was no risk.

I hope it progresses and only clears up after the playoffs. It's about time another team dealt with injuries playing against us in the playoffs.

Good win. It was a little concerning when the lead ballooned up to 16 at the half with how much the offense struggled in the 2nd quarter. KAT being in foul trouble and the hack-a-Mitch strategy probably didn't help. The team fought back in the 2nd half when I was beginning to have my doubts.

It was nice to see Thibs try a different defensive strategy. The switching wasn't always pretty but the team seemed to play with more defensive intensity. Maybe it was helpful not having to constantly fight over screens. Celtics are a bit banged up so i'm a little more hopeful than I previously was. I'm not sure if we can expect the Knicks to shoot 46% from 3 again while the Celtics shoot 25%.

The Knicks are going to have to do a better job controlling their defensive glass. The extra possessions for Boston could have come back to hurt the team in the end but i'm glad they pulled the game out.

Shout out the captain of the minutes police in Mikal for competing for 51 minutes. His offense has left a lot to be desired but I love the effort he has been giving on the defensive end this postseason. It was nice to get a game where everyone was contributing to the win in their own way.

The “Boston shot/missed 3s” narrative is all the analysts want to talk about. Like it’s not 2025 and we don’t know teams shoot 3s. Like anybody should care. We can’t give the Knicks a single word of credit though

whole media working overtime to blame the celtics for their 3PA rather than credit the knicks...we might save basketball if we win this series

We missed 14 FTs last night. 54%. Still at only 66% minus Mitch.

That's something we likely don't repeat.

I hope you guys are right because I actually like and respect Thibs...but we cant continue to play beneath our offensive potential- so I hope they bring in an offensive coach to work with Thibs at the very least if he stays...

I’ve been off work sick today so I’ve been able to consume sports media all morning, since before sunrise, and you’re right: it’s so much of how “this is not the Celtics team we will continue to see,” but no props to New York at all.

Sometimes, I’ve seen these guys throw in the caveat of saying that New York did what they were “supposed to do” by taking this game that Boston supposedly “handed” to them, but only one or two analysts I’ve seen this morning talked about New York’s impact on Boston’s struggles from behind the arc.

I’m like most of you guys, I GET that what we saw is likely not sustainable in a full series against a team this good, but I enjoy watching basketball one game at a time. It’s one of my favorite hobbies and has been for over 30 years. So I LOVE what I saw last night and I’m going to enjoy it. I encourage all of you to do the same and not buy into ANYONE trying to diminish our fun.

Every one of my posts is usually something positive followed by something negative about Thibs but the man made me proud last night and I will give him his flowers when they are due. Game 2 is gonna be more of a chess match than game 1. Keep it up Thibs! Don't regress to your means.
