KAT and Mitch have overall been very good in these two games when they do a straight switch onto JB/Tatum. Burned sometimes, sure, but mostly good outcomes for us. We should absolutely continue to switch. It's when we get caught in a drop or are late on our switch that we have gotten consistently burned.

I'll take a contested step back or a lay up over open threes. Keep switching and beating them up

We are doing the opposite of that though. We are giving them open 3s and sending all types of help on Tatum

Orlando switched but never sent help and just stayed home on the shooters so Tatum destroyed them in ISOs. We are leaving shooters open but collapsing the paint to provide help. Basically taking Tatum completely out of the series and cutting the head off the snake

Do they sell sandwiches in Oklahoma? That dude needs one.

Celtics have a payroll of $500 million

Is it in the back of their players' minds?

Are their guys thinking about the future or are they solely focused on these playoffs?

Villanova Alum? So God is a Knicks fan.

So when you have your moment before St Peter do NOT bring up Weis over Artest.

Meaning, Boston has it in the back of their mind that they better hold onto a comfortable lead or Brunson can close it. Puts extra weight on them, thereby prompting a choke.

This is the exact description of how it felt as a Knicks fan playing against Jordan in the 90s. EXACT. Like, halfway through reading it I couldn't even tell you were posting about Brunson anymore because my MJ PTSD kicked in.

Crazy the Knicks have a guy that can show up similarly.

Where would we even rank Brunsons contribution in that game 2 win. Not that I really care to get in the nuance of ranking credit. It was a complete team win and everyone had key contributions. Hell deuce hit some clutch buckets on that run. Its just wild that we're up 2 and we haven't needed Brunson to be Brunson.

I don't know man, I can't even talk about this stuff at this point. This playoff high is so 90s to me, it's a euphoria I haven't felt in nearly 3 decades - being in series with GREAT teams and emerging victorious, sometimes as underdogs, from individual battles. But those 90s highs also came with catastrophic crashes when wars were lost in the end.

The one nuance I keep reminding myself of though is simply that we actually have a GUY this time around. Jalen Brunson being one of the most capable and reliable closers in the NBA - a game-warping player that can take over and control games against the best teams, defenders, coaches, in the playoffs, in the 4th quarter, at the most highly pressurized moments in the game. So much of these first two rounds feels the same as the mid 90s to me in terms of the euphoria, the jubilation, and the giddiness, but with that recall also comes the memory of the pain. We were always waiting for Jordan to grab the game by the neck at the end, because as wonderful a player as Pat was, that wasn't reliably part of his bag. Starks wanted to be that guy, and had the stomach for it, but he didn't have the actual skill to be it. In the late 90s Houston and Spree had varying pieces of the closer/finisher composition, but neither was actually fully formed in that regard. We could get up, feel good, but then have it ripped away in a fairly predictable manner.

Jalen is legitimately one of the elite in the NBA at it - a true boogeyman to other teams - and I'm hoping that's the difference now. That's the only nuance I can focus on at this point.

Last time we beat Boston in the playoffs we ended the big 3 era and broke up the core. Let’s do it again
DENVER NUGGETS
Jamal Murray/Ty Jerome/Dante Exum
Zach Lavine/Ochai Agbaji/Corey Kispert
Aaron Gordon/Josh Okogie/Julian Strawther
Jakob Poeltl/Moussa Diabate/Karlo Matkovic

The story is really not that the Celtics blew two 20-point leads

I called it a choke earlier too, but not really

Knicks have been the better team in both games ... dominated for most of second half of both games ... the leads they build in the first halves were because they bomb 3's and the refs helped them

Last 9 years with Jaylen Brown on the team, Celtics have been to the ECF as many as 7 times

Last 8 years with Tatum, they've been to the ECF 6 times

They've been to the Finals twice in these last 4 seasons

At some point a winning team/franchise burns out

with Tatum and Brown it's interesting because they started winning big right at the start of their rookie seasons

They haven't faced adversity like this since losing to the Warriors in the Finals and Miami Heat in the ECF

They recovered and won a championship last year but how much is left in the tank for them?
Are Tatum and Brown content with their legacies? They could retire tomorrow and both would be in the hall of fame with both their jerseys up in the rafters

25-100 from 3 is a huge part of what's going on. Let's not act like it isn't. The bigger question is, is our defense forcing them to take uncomfortable shots even though they are open? Are they in rhythm or just chucking away because they have to?

The other part of this is when will the Knicks studs play better? We haven't played well at all until the final 15 minutes of both games. Amazingly we can't back from 40 points down combined. It hasn't been pretty at all.

Is it about what's going wrong for either team or what's going right? We are up 2-0 so, the latter argument is the one I'm going with. We will need to play better if we want to win this series.
