Philly’s just had our number and has been literally eating our lunch the past few years.

Makes sense they would swoop right in and out tank us to land better draft slot.

Tanking all season to get 9th definitely sucks. But at this point I’m a full on conspiracy theorist. There’s no way the Mavericks, Spurs and Sixers deserved the top 3 picks. Way too many coincidences happened tonight.

Tired of our FO drafting non shooters and trying to make them shooters. Those guys are reliable in high pressure situations because they aren’t confident in their shots.

CMB won’t be playable on our roster

If we stay at 7 or fall a few spots, we need to trade down. Brooklyn has a few picks, so does ATL and OKC.

Last thing we need to do here is to swing for the fences and run the risk of coming up empty handed. I'd rather take two or three shots and come up with 1-3 quality rotation guys than gamble on Maluach and have nothing to show for it if he doesn't work out. It's not like he's looking like a healthy Oden, Gobert, Bynum or any of those guys. We should still be able to find a very serviceable C later in the draft like Condon.

That’s exactly the wrong strategy. The current team has a ton of depth and lacks high end talent. You want to endure an entire year of tanking for the #15 and #22 picks who will end up as 3rd stringers stuck behind Walter, Dick, Shead and Ochai?

This team desperately needs to swing for the fences and go for the highest possible upside to lift them out of the treadmill tier.

Couldn't disagree more.

The path to acquiring another star for Toronto has always been turning our quarters into a dollar. We did it with Ibaka, Gasol and to a lesser extent - Kawhi and Green.

Right now we have a bunch of pieces that we aren't quite sure of their fit together. Financially, there's a very real possibility we'll need to move one of Barrett or Quickley and whatever we can throw together to get a star and ideally we'd want to be able to do that without impacting our core too much. In order to pull that off, you need depth. So with #9, that's what the focus should be.

If there was someone around there that I thought was a star OR there was an opportunity to move up and acquire an Edgecombe or Harper, that's a different story. But that's unlikely to be the case and I'm fairly certain once the dust settles, we can get most of what Maluach would be doing in a guy like Condon.

Unless of course there is some serious superstar potential in Maluach that I've failed to see up until this point and perhaps there's another team that would trade serious value for him then fine but I wouldn't be taking him for keeps.

I'd prefer Queen a little more to be honest but even with him, I'm not sold that he's got superstar upside.

but man what a mess of a season for them and Utah

Toronto i got Noa or Carter Bryant ... maybe Traore

if they take a big, it'll be the local maryland/baltimore guy in queen. plus a good fit with sarr

Hmmm...I didn't think of the "hometown" angle with Queen because "on paper", I'd think WAS would actually go for Maluach. Their "type" has been defensive with offensive upside like Bilal & Sarr. Especially if Khaman keeps burying 3s all combine and there have already been talks about teams wanting to trade up for Maluach -- teams wanted to do so for Bilal and they took him way higher than was initially expected. Plus they'd really have a great defensive base set for whichever high end talents they get in 26' + 27'.

I can definitely see what you're saying with Queen as well though. You need something to sell your fans on however minor and if there was a PF/C type that should fit with Queen, Sarr should actually make the most sense. I might have to re-think my top 10. BUT I don't count out Sean Marks drafting Maluach even though I'm praying they take Kon. I just think Marks is the type of GM to take some chances and I think it gives them a bit more of an upside to sell to the fans. That's the pathway I'm PRAYING for at this point...

DAL - Flagg
MIL - Harper *Spurs trade for Giannis
PHI - Bailey
CHA - VJ
UT - Tre
WAS - Queen
NOP - Fears
BKN - Kon (praying for this outcome, even though I don't buy it)
TOR - Maluach and if not Bryant
>>>THENOTORIOUSBI3<<< :guitar: *INGRAM*ALLSTARSEASON* Wemby is HIM - Top 5 Player this year

Absolutely insane

Spurs have the pieces to land Giannis.

Wemby + Giannis are winning several championships together.

Harper-Castle is a terrible backcourt. Too much duplication and not enough shooting for Wemby. Better to flip Harper to the Raps for next year's pick plus IQ or Gradey Dick.

We need Harper bad and should pull out all the stops.

I'd pull the trigger on this.

IQ, Dick, protected 1st for Harper, salary.

I doubt it though. Spurs best use of this pick is to go for Giannis.

A 6’6’ big after this season would be so demoralizing.
