it would be a grave mistake to look at this pacers team the same way as last year's. they are way more dangerous, connected, tough, polished. sleep on them at your own peril. they deserve the utmost respect.

Payne was beyond awful.

We have to ride with a 7-man rotation the rest of the way and maybe try Payne for spot minutes against Indy or even give Wright or Shamet a look. Would be nice to find another spark off the bench.

I'm going out on a limb. If we end up facing Indy. Brunson, Hart, Mitch and OG will remember last year and Hali's front runnerfraudulent ass like he really did something.

I'm cautiously confident for that series. They're more than Haliburton though. It's a strong team top to bottom. But we were in control before we lost OG and Mikal should also match up well with their guys.

If we're whole we should beat them, they have been playing well, but it's really hard to tell just how good they are considering both their opponents have been injured. What I do know is that the 7 game series would have been over in 5 last year if OG didn't get hurt. I would expect a big series from OG here, because they don't really have a matchup for him, Nembhard is too small, Nesmith will be on Jalen, Siakam is too slow.

The only thing I worry about with them is injury, and their whole gameplan is centered around getting Brunson tired by pressuring him full court the way they've done Mitchell.

I really don't want to get into strategy vs Indy since we aren't there yet but your like dragging me into this convo.

If Thibs is smart we put KAT on Siakam defensively....we put OG on Turner...and Mikal on Hali....so if they run the Hali/Turner pick and pop we basically neutralize Hali scoring ability with OG switching on him...and we take away the pick and pop 3 ball game because Mikal is long enough to deal with Myles Turner...if they want to eventually post up that matchup a lot I don't really care.

They probably will have to use Hali/Siakam P&R but Siakam isn't really a high volume or high eff 3 ball shooter (even though he's hitting them this year). And for the most part KAT should be able to stay in front of him and recover.

Brunson is strong enough to not mean Nembhard can bully him.

And Hart is a much better matchup for Indy than he is for BOS. Who is going to guard Hart on Inday? If It's turner...and then Siakam is on KAT...and they guard Nesmith on Brunson...so Hali either has to be put on Mikal or OG...which Hart and OG would be way too strong for him....would should be able to kill them on the glass. Even if we go with our big big lineup its going to creat some strong mismatches...I think in a lot of cases they will be forced to put Hali on Mikal...and then I would just spam P&R with Mikal as the ball handler...

Defense is obviously huge and Mitch proving me wrong about defensive impact

But it's really extra big when Mitch can get a dunk here or there ... Utah's offense uses Rudy a ton for dunks and it is actually a key part of their offense

I laughed off the idea of looking for Mitch ... but I think his couple of dunks played a huge part in the game ... if he's scoring just a little, it's a game changer

They played a really great game.

Would have been easy to fold. But we have a great coach who doesn't let the team get down, 2 great defensive wings, better bigs, and the best player who was willing to trade punches and was the one left standing. Im normally not a semantics guy - but it somewhat discredits Brunson and the team. And im not on that right now.

We are the better team. And that's why were up 3-1 and won that game.

KAT was really out of control first half and his defense is a real issue ... but the energy and effort he was putting in to try to win the game ... I mean that counts for a lot to me

he was special special...I know I expect a ton out of him and he has been doing it in the 4th qtrs vs boston but I was waiting for his signature dominant game and he exceeded that. His high level shot making is unmatched in the NBA. Kobe like in terms of making tough shots look easy.
