Didn’t even watch it but not surprised we didn’t get the Philly pick. It’s pretty amazing to have built a contender with getting consistently dicked in the lottery every year.

Presti has done an amazing job finding gems in thunder 2.0
I truly believe we would be a 55 win team even without Shai.

I totally believe the lottery is rigged I mean trade Luka for ad who is always injured and not know you are getting flag with a small what 3.6 %chance. I believe Patrick Ewing said he knew it was one year and Cleveland won it like 3 years out 4 no way.

This is the easiest path to a Championship in the last 15 years. OKC would get this done if mentally strong enough (which is a big if)

We can dream about a Thunder dynasty but then you look at Tatum injury and realise your "5+ years" window to win a championship can be over in a heartbeat

tbh boston didn't look like the best team in the ecf this playoffs at all, if i'm betting, i'd put money on indiana
if utah opts to tank again the utah pick just evaporates. really rough stuff happened to okc this lottery.

OKC saw their window evaporate the first time with the Russ injury when they were expected to at least make the Finals and KD injuries following that cost them more opportunity. That is why I get so upset when OKC is a legitimate contender and that year gets risked by not maxing out for a championship. Next year is not guaranteed to any player or team. If OKC has Cam Thomas, Wallace and Caruso coming off the bench with Jaylin is it better or worse than having Wiggins and Joe over Cam? If you say Cam is better than both of those players, individually, then the correct move was to pay the price, because OKC had the assets, to get Cam and push for their best chance.
It is also why I get upset about being happy with being a playoff team that is going to be an easy first round exit over committing to the rebuild and wasting years being in what I view as the worst place to be stuck in sports. Maxed salary cap, no lottery chance to add an impact player and you have no chance at a championship.

I think Presti's biggest flaw is at the trade deadline because he either makes no move or bad ones (Singler, Kanter and Hayward says hi) but this season it was a bit tricky since Chet was injured and we never played Chet/Hartenstein before the deadline. It was maybe worth taking the gamble but still not such an easy decision when your team chemistry is that good and you don't have many games to build chemistry when your second best player comes back.
I also think Presti maximized our odds to win the title by adding Caruso/Hartenstein (what baffles me is that he was willing to bring back Giddey which would have been a terrible mistake and he got really lucky with that one)
and yeah we got unlucky in 2013/2014 and so far no badluck but gonna need to see if this team can be mentally strong enough. Vegas giving us 50% to win the title despite being 2-2 in a close series but we still need to learn how to make shots in key games.

Lottery is rigged, confirmed now.
Presti accepting protections on all these picks is really coming back to bite now. HOU, UTA, PHI all landing in the protected range over the last couple of years is rough.

very difficult to get unprotected FRPs in today's NBA when an all star/superstar isn't involved (even more when it's salary dumping trade). We just got unlucky. Philly could be good next season and I think the Utah pick won't convey so it's very frustrating.

speaking of picks, if Tatum is really out next season and Boston is open for business I hope Presti will at least call to try to get Derrick White. More expensive but way better option than Cam Johnson and we can afford his contract IMO.

Re: 2024-2025 OKC Thunder Games Thread
We will likely have more long term success with this current core. Trading someone like Jalen Williams as centerpiece for Giannis raises our ceiling immediately but the assets become significantly more depleted. I think it’s worth it. Why worry about a dynasty when we haven’t won a single thing yet? However the reality is if Giannis came to OKC and tears his achilles, we start going down the path of if this current version of the Thunder is sustainable.
There are lots of ways this could work out. The bottom line is I think most genuine Thunder fans feel like we’ve been a bit exposed again this year. Despite having a great opportunity to win, we arenot sure that we have enough experience and offense to get it done. I want one championship regardless of the cost. Once that happens, we can talk dynasties.

this is not a problem if giannis waives his player option for a fully guaranteed deal. use him 2 seasons then trade when he's due an extension and recoup the assets.
not like this still matters, yesterday's draft made sure giannis deal doesn't go through okc anymore. it goes through dallas and san antonio.
it would take half our team (chet, jdub, hartenstein) to get giannis.

Re: 2024-2025 OKC Thunder Games Thread
i just can't get over what happened yesterday what the ****. diabolical. if you asked me what's the worst possible result of the lottery i wouldn't be able to come up with that.
mavs has fits on okc: got flagg. spurs and wembenyama got #2 and became league leader in ammunition for trades. two direct rivals getting extremely lucky, at the same time.
now our picks: 76ers not only retained their pick but got the 3rd pick which is the best possible pick in the scenario above, thus probably helping them to weaken their 2026 debt to us. and utah, that can entertain the possibility of not tanking next season, got the worst possible pick given their lottery odds and ended up with the least incentive to compete next season after it it vanishes. dallas 2028 pick swap getting worse than.
what are the odds of multiple worst possible results happen at the same time?
the fans asked, the nba gave them: my goodness they nerfed the thunder hard.

Re: 2024-2025 OKC Thunder Games Thread
i'd like to highlight two really good lineups by the thunder
sga dort jdub chet jaylin - is beating denver by like 16 net rtg
cason caruso + anybody
particularly
cason caruso wiggins + sga/jdub + chet/ihart. this has been sooooo good.
also
sga dort jdub chet ihart beats nuggets by just 1.9 net rtg/100
sga caruso jdub chet ihart is losing.
