I still remember Duke attacking him on offense. For a guy who supposedly a good defender they really exposed him in that game.

His fit as a player and person is so good with this roster.

I’m not excited because I’m damn near certain he’s going 3.

If he's the guy, Peterson should be prepared to trade up with Philly.

He’s been the guy for months unless we were out of the top 2. Which unfortunately we are.

Re: The VJ Edgecombe thread
I do struggle to find good comps for VJ, there really aren't that many 2s in the NBA right now that are really good athletes, average to below average 3 pt shooters whose main calling card is defense.
I think Oladipo is the one people say the most frequently which I can see some shades, but other guys are like Keon Johnson, Okoro, Jaden Ivey, Bruce Brown, Lonnie Walker and Ayo Dosunmu.

Re: The VJ Edgecombe thread
Can't create, sloppy handle, but he's athletic and plays defense. Clear signs of a role player.
If we going with a guy who can't handle, or be a player maker why not take the guy with a higher scoring upside with Bailey?

Is defensive-minded Anthony Edwards a too far off comp for him?
Athleticism and measurements seem to check out. Edwards had a larger frame but Edgecombe might actually be a shade taller. Edwards wingspan is thought to be 6'9 while Edgecombe was measured at 6'8.5.
Edwards' college stats: 19.1 PPG, 40/29/77, 5.2 RPG, 2.8 APG, 1.3 SPG, .6 BPG
Edgecombe's college stats: 15.0 PPG, 44/34/78, 5.6 RPG, 3.2 APG, 2.1 SPG, .6 BPG
Draft profile on Edwards:
https://www.nba.com/timberwolves/2020-nba-draft-profile-anthony-edwards
Powerful guard with elite length and explosiveness. Tough to contain, especially in transition. Strong first step and bouncy off one or two feet in space. Embraces contact in the paint.
Three-level scorer who can function on or off the ball. Capable shooter with his feet set but most intriguing with the ball in his hands. Made 42 pull-up jumpers in 32 games, regularly elevating over the top of defenders with ease. Can splash a pull-up 3 if the defense goes under, rise up in midrange spots or use his strength and explosiveness to get all the way to the rim in a straight line. Shows potential as a facilitator, particularly in the open court.
Seems like Edwards was much more of the threat off the bounce while Edgecombe is a much more established defender. Edwards developed into a really good NBA defender so hopefully the flipside is true for Edgecombe and he develops into a threat off the dribble.
It also says Edwards was a great finisher and I don't think he's particularly great at the rim even now. They both kind of have the same problem by not utilizing there strength and mistiming their shots.

Biggest differences are Edwards is 225 lbs vs 193 lbs for VJ.
VJ Wingspan is also 6-7.5
Lastly Edwards was a much bigger volume outside shooter 7.7 3pa vs 4.6 3pa per game.

Re: The VJ Edgecombe thread
Edgecombe seemed to attack the basketball pretty well during the Olympics with the more spread out floor against grown men. At the 5:18 mark he makes a move that only the athletic freaks like MJ, Vince Carter, Westbrook, etc. can make.
I really hope the 76'ers go with Bailey.

Anyone think he has a little Donovan Mitchell in him?

His range of outcomes gets really interested if he improves his handle. Doesnt need to be a ballhandling wizard or anything, just get pretty decent and be able to move full speed and change direction with the ball.
If he doesn't improve his handle there seems like there should still be a lot of possible outcomes where he turns into a Suggs type of player.

Just looking like it might be a Monk vs Mitchell type of thing with him and Johnson.
