Draft Night: Coby White to Orlando

Post#1 » by NYG » Sun May 18, 2025 3:20 am

Coby White for Cole Anthony and 16th Overall and 25th Overall

Bulls continue to rebuild and avoid having the pay White while adding two additional firsts that probably leads to some follow-up consolidation deal.

Magic get their guard at a reasonable cost without losing anyone in their core. White would provide a huge boost essentially going from Anthony to White on the court.

IMO maybe at the trade deadline this value could've been achieved but for the Magic it's going to be hard to justify this simply because Coby is now an unrestricted expiring. The risk of facing "overpay or lose everything" (especially if Coby has a good year this upcoming season) makes me hesitate.

I've posted about 7 CWhite-Orl trades
I think the best one is
CWhite/Terry for Anthony/Howard/#16

I would think KCP would be nice next to Giddey or Ball.

ORL sends Cole, KCP, Jett, #16, #25
CHI sends Vuc, Coby

would need extension agreement at 20-22 a yr or can not do this..and do not think legal ...and him and agent likely will want to wait...giving 2 first and exp and be forced to overpay or walk can not be option at that cost

This is much more helpful for the Bulls than the original due to giving up Vuc. Boy I can't imagine ORL wanting a 5 years older Vucevic back when they haven't had much success out of the 2 FRPs they got for him

The problem for the Bulls is KCP, he's not a great fit next to Giddey 22yo or Ball 27yo and missed 3 seasons of wear and tear considering KCP is already 31 years old and going to take that option when he's 33. Problem 2 for the Bulls is what do they do with 3 rookies especially when you've sent them 3 players for 2. Look at the roster and how many contracts they would have. If follow up trades are required, make them too don't just ignore their need

Am I reading this right? They got Franz in that deal, Jett I concur but...Franz!

I think KCP for two years is EXACTLY what Giddey and the Bulls need. He's healthy and fierce and played lots of minutes...there's a lot of 25yo's I'd be more worried about than KCP (re: age vs availablilty/injury)
