The team does something like a pick swap with NO for Zion and throws in the Dallas pick + Bridges/salary. I don’t like this option but I could understand why. The trade option I’d understand more is seeing if we could obtain KD. All these options carry significant risk but this one from a business stand point makes short-term sense. Similar trade package to Phx. We might have to give up more but ultimately you’re banking on Ball/Miller/KD going on a deep playoff run in the east. KD might also pull another decent player to join the team in FA.
The way I see it is, if we aren’t a playoff team soon Ball is going to ask for a trade. And at that point we are resetting anyways.
Your idea around Zion intrigues me, but not the one for KD. Swapping picks, giving them our future Dallas pick (which will likely be a very late rounder), plus Miles and salary like Green, would bring us the high powered vet in his prime we talk about using these picks for (albeit a risky move being Zion), while still giving us pick 7 for acquiring one of Fears, Knipple, or Tre. If none of them were there could still take a flyer on someone like Carter Bryant or Demin…or trade back with the Nets for two picks in the first.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.
