Ya'll gave up on him last year and were willing to trade him for Gabe Vincent and Max Strus lol.
Just to satisfy my curiosity ... name a team from this season that wins the championship with Tyler as the #2 guy.

I'll go out on a limb and say maybe Cavs. I'll even throw Minnesota out there.

Hes not number 2 in minnesota. Julius Randle is number 2, mcdaniels is third. Herro comes off the bench because hes a defensive liability and hes not a point guard.

Also for all this talk about Ty Jerome playing well against Herro. Did you guys watch the Cavs games throughout this season? Did you guys watch what Ty Jerome was doing prior to the playoffs even? He was already coming in on a heater. I'm not saying Herro's defense isn't bad but let's be real about the overall picture.

I'm not a fan of Randle's offensive game. If you think McDaniels is a better offensive option than Herro as well then I dont know what to tell you anymore.

If you keep up with the league you know Jerome is a solid bench player offensively but what he was doing to Tyler was on another level. He was singling him out damn near every time down the court, scoring on him, and then flexing on him/yelling at him. By the time his playoffs were done he was getting benched for being unplayable due to not being a defender and being unable to score against the Pacers guards (pretty similar situation there tbh between he and Herro)

OKC, but whats the point here?
They are winning anyway.
Outside shot Denver, I'd rate Murray and Herro basically the same at this point in their careers, leaning to an edge for Herro because Murray is playing next to MVP level guy already

I’d love to see Boston blow it up and somehow Heat can get Derrick White.

Boston will find other teams to do deals with first before they come knocking on our door. White has been heavily rumored to GSW already. The only way Boston works with us is if we can absorb massive amounts of salary this year. We have the Duncan contract but we need to think long and hard how we use that.

Anybody calling for or putting AD in a Heat jersey is insane. This is Nico’s guy through and through.

I’d love White, unfortunately he’s their 3rd most important player at worst. I’d be shocked to see him leave but GS would be fun

Herro would be the second best scorer on the Nuggets. He would be the 2nd best scorer on the Pacers. He would also be the 2nd best scorer on the Thunder. Do they win the championship with him? Idk, winning a championship is very difficult - a stacked Celtics team with a near 400m payroll couldn't get it done this year. But are those teams contenders with Herro as their second leading scorer? You betcha.
The difference between the teams I listed above and us is that 1) they all have a true alpha / #1 guy, and 2) they all have deep rosters and very little / none dead salary. We unfortunately have > 40m tied in Duncan and Rozier, for instance. That money could instead be used on a star player. You get that star player, and all of a sudden you have Herro as your 2nd leading scorer, Bam as your third, Wiggins as your 4th, etc, and everything just falls into place better.

So how did Ty Jerome do in his next series after they beat the Heat? Probably really well given the hot streak he was on, right?

I’ve seen a few mentions of Herro over Murray for a scoring option. I’d lean Murray considering we’ve seen it translate to the playoffs for several seasons and he’s had huge games scoring on their way to a championship.

As predicted, as soon as he faced a semi decent and competent defender in the playoffs he was going to get annulled. As exactly happened against Indiana. As much as Herro improved his offense, his defense is just putrid. We will always be at a disadvantage when he is on the floor, we are not talking about an average defender, he is just really really bad.
