Niko is extension eligible on July 1st. Eligible for 3 yr 30 million extension. That’s pretty much a bargain if he doesn’t get traded.

Pass.. if he isnt traded this offseason then let him hit free agency and see if you match the offer sheet..

If he has a big year a 22 year old stretch 4 ball handler will command at very minimum the full MLE at 14/15 per. 10 million is essentially what we are paying Kyle Anderson. Year’s 22-25 at 10 mil per for Jovic could prove to be a very wise cap friendly investment.

Re: 2025 Offseason Season Thread Vol. 1
Unfortunate for Edrice but I’ve said this would be the case. Drug a team that featured a combo of Terry/Herro/Duncan/Burks starting in the backcourt to a top 8 defense on the year and doesn’t even get 2nd team while Daniels is a finalist because SPG on a bottom 12 defense, camara is on a team with a bottom 14 defense, and Memphis ranked behind Miami as well but Jaren has so much false clout for whatever reason he’ll probably get all nba averaging 22-5-2 lol.
Either build a legit roster or trade Bam before it’s too late, either option bodes well for both parties if you fully lean into it. He can get accolades here or on another team that’s good.
All defense should’ve been a streak that lasted until he was nearly retired

Bam needed to crack 65 points…and he got 18. Just flush this past season.

All you have to do is look at the records of those teams. Personal resume has to translate to wins for your team in order to get acknowledgement by voters, unless you get a media push like Daniels. I wont pretend to know whats up with Camara

Man... some people whining about a 25 yo all star entering his prime making 30M (which is good value), saying focus on young players. Then we have niko at 21 under control for one more year at 4.5M and we could keep him at 3-30, with cap rising. He would be 23-25 yo during those years. Its such a worthy gamble on our homegrown talent. Hes still so young.
But yeah no thanks hes trash, get rid of him.
The solution to everything apparently is get a top draft pick (guarantees you absolutely nothing, plenty of players bust) or trade for a top 10 player in their prime (which is super easy to do).
Look at the Pacers with Nembhard 3-58M and Nesmith 3-33M off their rookie deals.
Wolves have good contracts of DDV 4-46 and Naz Reid 3-40.
Knicks gave up a ton of assets for mikal but it was for his contract 4-90M. Now they have this window for 2-3 years and brunson took less.
You need to hit on these good players at good value. And I think Niko is that. Battery was talking about the CBA and apron and death of the middling star. This isn't necessarily bad for players association, the money is going to get apent, just spread out. The CBA will create parity, and its already happening. Teams just need to decide if they want to go the max 3 dudes and have bums for depth, max 3 dudes and pay others and pay a huge tax bill, or build a team like the Pacers and okc and Knicks or wolves did. Every team in playoffs has multiple good contracts or rookie deal players on their roster.
None of them have a MPJ making big money giving them nothing. You're gonna see teams more strict when giving out maxes, and they very well should.
Anyway. Team Niko. Get it done.

It would be a small miracle to keep Jovic out of the Durant deal but i’ll be rooting hard for us to keep him. Having him as the backup 6th man PF making Kyle Anderson money is a perfect world scenario. I also keep reminding myself we traded Butler for Wiggins, Anderson, and a top 10 protected pick. Maybe all it cost us is Wiggins, JJJ, expiring’s and future pick in the end.

Helps when the team has a good record which reinforces the idea that the performance is impactful and not empty.

Not a fan of Niko but if he’s willing to take 3-30, extending him would be a no brainer if a trade fails to materialize

After KD and Book, Giannis and Dame didn't work out, I'm skeptical of all good on paper pairings.
Damn, PHX passed on Donic and Hali, to be rebuilding again
