Breaking Porzingis into two or more expiring contracts
Assumptions: Porzingis is planning to play for his home country in Euro basket this summer. Let’s assume he looks good and his post viral issues appear resolved.
The Celtics won’t panic and attach picks to dump a useful player.
He is on an expiring contract at just over 30 million for the coming seasons.
What are your best offers that don’t add 26/27 salary.
The goals is to split him into smaller contracts that can be moved or stretched.
Please only ideas that don’t involve attaching 28, 32 or a future first to Porzingis.

I was just thinking Gobert and Reid for White and Porz.
I am not sure about how it works out financially.
It was an idea I was just running through the machine.

Vuc to Boston
Ayo to BRK (they could really use him next to Cam Thomas in the starting lineup)
#27/KP to Chi
Bos gets a center who plays every night and produces, and they save A TON of money ($10 million salary-not sure how much in lux tax)
BRK gets a starting guard cheaply
Bulls gamble that KP can play 50 games and be healthy for the playoffs

Yeah that’s one that makes a lot of basketball sense
LAL become hard capped the first Apron for taking back more Salary. Is that something they can manage?

The word is the LAKERS will take Luka's opinion into account in the trades... I'm pretty sure KP isn't on Luka's list of favorites... I don't think it's anything personal at this point, but they don't fit well together... don't make things up, copy them... Luka did well with Powell/Gafford/Lively, setting good screens and running to the rim... I like that Vuc for KP...

This makes a lot sense for Cs and Chi. For BRK IDK, maybe some they have so many picks.

IDK, KP can be a great rim runner/ as well as spacer 3pt shooter. Can also protect the rim as well.

I watched most of Luka/KP's games in Dallas and they didn't like/look for each other on the court, although perhaps they matured... KP set very weak screens and tried to avoid contact in the paint... it frustrated Luka, the body language between them was terrible, even though it was an incredible fit on paper, they had no feeling.

It was a long time ago. KPs screens are better and he knows how to play as a # 3 or 4 options.

Re: Breaking Porzingis into two or more expiring contracts
Okay, so this takes back money thru 2028 ($19mil total in 28) but brings in a couple of young guys and gets Wash off a bad contract. Wasington will have to release Richaun Holmes and his $13 million to have space to do this deal.
Celts trade
Kristap Porzingis
Wizards trade
Corey Kispert
Justin Champagnie (3 yrs $2.4/$2.7/TO $3)
Tristan Vukcevic (S&T 3 yrs $2.4/$2.7/TO $3)
2027 2nd round pick (best of BRK/DAL/CHI/GSW)
Celts save $11.5 this season ... Kispert's deal is for 3 yrs, but next trade cycle becomes salary matching
Wizards give up a second and two lower-priority prospects to get off Kisperts money and rejuvenate KP to flip for more assets at the deadline. Also WAS opens PT for the rookies coming in this year

Bulls could also do Ayo/Port pick for the #19? I REALLY think Ayo fits well with Cam Thomas, and even if BRK wants to tank, they need NBA players
Another idea is this-bigger one. I don't like this one, but Chi's FO wants to win now
Bos sends KP to Chi
Bos gets Vuc
I really like this for Boston-they get a guy who will pay 80 games and get 18/11/4
BRK sends Cam J and #26 to Chi
BRK gets PWill/Ayo/#12/Port pick
BRK gets Ayo and PWill (maybe salvageable) and adds a great pick to help their rebuild, plus adds a future pick
Chi sends Vuc to Bos and Ayo/PWill/#12/Port pick to BRK
Chi gets KP/Cam J/#26
Bulls go for the 2nd round upside
White/Ball/JCarter
Giddey/Huerter/Terry
Matas/Phillips
Cam J/JSmith
KP/Collins
Plus #26 to play with. Bulls take BPA, whoever drops
If Giddey/Matas continue to improve and KP can play 60 games this is a good team-with all our future picks in place

Or alternatively, if WAS wants to undertake a KP rehab-to-flip and Celts don't want long term money, then Marcus can come back.
WAS trades Smart and Vukcevic (S&T 3yrs for $9)
Celts trade KP
Smart is expriing $21 and you keep Tristan Vukcevic and try to develop him in the frontcourt

Re: Breaking Porzingis into two or more expiring contracts
This is a two-step deal that needs to be spread into both salary years.
Part 1:
Boston trades KP for Jonathan Issac
Chicago trades Porland 26 pick and Carter for Howard and 25 (Pipfan's deal basically)
Orlando trades Issac, Howard and 25 for Simons and Carter
Portland trades Simons for KP and 26 pick returned
Part 2:
Boston trades Issac, who's contract decreases from $25 to $15 million in the new salary year
Portland trades Timelord for Issac
So Boston basically gets Timelord for KP and cuts $17.5 million in salary and probably more than that in luxury tax savings. Timelord has an ending deal of $13.2 million and can be kept, traded for an ever less expensive player or stretched.

Re: Breaking Porzingis into two or more expiring contracts
Raptors - Porzingis
Heat - RJ Barrett
Celtics - Kyle Anderson, Nurkic, 2nd rounders from Toronto, Miami and Charlotte
Charlotte - Duncan Robinson
Celtics get a bunch of 2nds, 2 expiring veterans
Raptors get Porzingis to split time with Poeltl, presumably they draft a wing at #9
Heat get a wing who can score a bit, he probably starts out of necessity even
Charlotte gets a shooter instead of Nurkic
Feels too good for Toronto and not good enough for Boston, so maybe Toronto sends a rookie contract player to Boston, like Mogbo (solid player as a rookie even with 0 scoring skill whatsoever, and he's a good defender and passer so should suit the Celtics 3pt shooting and with Tatum out, he'd ensure that Jaylen Brown isn't their only defender of big wings/forwards assuming Horford won't be up for a ton of that anymore) or Grady Dick (if the Celtics want to move Hauser he fits)

I don't see any chance the Wolves would be looking at Porzingis. Between health concerns and his contract Kristaps makes no sense for Minnesota.
