Simple Minnesota/Orlando swap

Post#1 » by ReggiesKnicks » Fri May 30, 2025 3:29 pm

Goga Bitadze, 2 Good* Future 2nds for Donte Divincenzo

*Best of ORL/MIL/WSH 2028 2nd
*Best of MIL/NOP/ORL 2030 2nd

Minnesota cuts salary, gets a real back-up center who can spot-start when Rudy misses games and/or reduces his minutes as he ages
Orlando gets a plug-and-play guard who can shoot, though is streaky, and is cost-controlled on a good salary number

Hard to see the Wolves, already thin at guard and potentially facing the loss of another key contributor like NAW due to cap constraints, giving up a playoff-rotation piece for a player who couldn’t crack the postseason rotation on a worse team. Goga plays the same position as Naz Reid, arguably their best bench player, and doesn’t offer meaningful cap relief (less than $4 million next season). He’s also not a developmental swing. He’ll be 26 before ever suiting up in Minnesota. The two second-round picks don’t even start to convey for another three years, right when Ant is entering his prime. Just doesn’t make much sense.

i could see the Wolves trading Conley for something like this and turning things over to Dillingham next season if they think he might be ready, and sending Goga to a 3rd team for the cap relief. But no I don't see them moving DDV for this

I'd like it more if Goga went to any team who would just take him for free. But I don't think I'd give up DDV for 2 2nds even good ones like these. If Dillingham seemed ready to contribute then maybe, but we are still pretty unsure there.

Love this for the Magic, and I'd be willing to give up my 2nd first this year if that helped. They need shooting and he fits the budget.

Yesterday I posted a trade where I debated if I should cut out a third team.

Today I posted this trade and thought "Goga should go to a 3rd team".

I'd love DDV to ORL and Goga, while a very good young player, isn't really needed in ORL, who have way too much invested in the C spots

DDV is one the best contracts on the Wolves They aren't trading him this offseason, unless they get something very good. McDaniels and DDV won't be traded...unless they aer getting something like Giannis.
