My guess with Mitchell is they offer him the TJ McConnell contract. The first year will start off at 10 with increases to 11.8. This will give us more wiggle room under the cap. I’ve studied the cap situations and depth charts of every team. Nobody is giving Mitchell a starting PG spot. Payton Pritchard from age 26-30 is signed to a deal that pays him roughly 7.5 yearly. Let’s not bid against ourselves like we have a bad habit at doing.

Maybe they can structure one of those contracts that starts higher, drops a little then climbs back up for Davion to give us a little more cap space next offseason when we need it.

They actually need it this year to stay out of the repeater tax.

Feverishly strategizing on how to keep a bench rotational Tito when the best players on the team are fellow Titos is a wild way to build a team, imo.

Pistons going to be too occupied with others to be bothering with overpaying Mitchell. NAW is also going to have heavy suitors. We are in the driver’s to get Mitchell at a bargain. Let’s not bid against ourselves like we love doing. Some of you are so quick to overpay like we did with Duncan and many others. I’d be shocked if he got a full MLE offer. That 14 mil noise is agent’s feeding the media.

Hoping and praying that a player better than Jimmy will fall into Pats lap to then allow the rest of the roster full of Titos to align to their proper roles is malpractice.

We win the championship with Derozan.

25ppg on elite efficiency and bball IQ. He's basically SGA without the whistle'. Unlike Jimmy, he actually tries during all regular season games, and he has a knockdown midrange jumshot.

MWP is right in what he said. You need depth, quality players. The elite teams have it. Go off though

Know what else elite teams have...elite players.

Prioritizing roles players when theres a void in elite talent is the opposite of logic.

You dont ignore your own free agents because you lack that #1 guy. “Lets not sign anybody because we dont have Michael” is stupidity. As MWP said, “just be smart about it” its really that simple.

We need to keep Mitchell because he's young, fits and a decent player.

We CAN'T overpay him like we did TOO MANY TIMES before, because he's not a game changer, isn't proven long term and has clear weaknesses.

And the bigger issue we need to focus on is not Mitchell, it's who will be the offensive star Mitchell is supposed to help support.

A house is built from the foundation up, you don't start building with the bathroom window - which is what Mitchell is.

I've yet to see a legit plan about building a contender expet the one I suggest - take a step back for 2 years and add assets.

There are many ways to build a successful team. Yes, drafting a star often is the way, but it’s not the only way.

Indians are in the Finals because they took risks. They traded Sabonis for Haliburton, and they traded for Siakam. They also traded Brogdon and got Nesmith as part of that deal in a throw in. A lot of their guys have been home grown draftees in Turner, Nembhard, Sheppard, Mathurin etc. None of those guys are stars.

Risk is probably what you could put it down to for all 4 conference finalists when you think about it. OKC traded a prime PG for a treasure trove, absolutely fluked SGA becoming as good as he has, and then drafted incredibly well. They also stunk it up for years in a ‘Process’ style rebuild. New York nailed the Brunson FA signing and he went from solid starter to star. They then took a big risk in all 3 deals involving Anunoby, Towns and Bridges. Minnesota took a risk sending multiple firsts for Gobert, and then dealing Towns for Randle and better depth.

Does anyone really feel like Indiana are worlds better than us? We can be right back in the hunt in the East, and it won’t take much. We just gotta either take some risks or draft well and have a little luck.

Both teams in the Finals traded their top players for unproven talent. Now theyre reaping the rewards.

Sabonis for Hali would be similar to Bam for Harper. Hali worked out. Harper may too.

Its all a gamble on talent reaching its peak. Sometimes that can happen with the home team. Others max out better elsewhere in a situation that fits them.

I believe Ive seen enough of our top 2 guys to understand their limitations. They need a top 10 guy. Pretty hard to add those guys, ever.

Might make sense to hit the reset. Id be surprised if Pat ever did that.

However, even he can see the writing on the wall with our current leaders.

Yes, Indiana is worlds better than MIA

They beat down Cleveland who swept MIA in the most embarrassing, non competitive vomit inducing fashion.

Had Mia played Indiana, NY, Bos in the first round, the same thing would have happened

Mia is fundamentally outclassed against the best teams and to suggest otherwise is delusional fandom

Return to Miami Heat
