Re: 2025 Offseason Season Thread Vol. 1
Not feeling great about paying Herro 3/150 but not sure we have many alternatives at this point.
Need to find our next core piece. Or someone needs to ascend to All Star level. I think Bam and Herro have peaked, so the next lot of hope falls on Ware and Jovic as the roster currently stands.

There is an alternative, dont do it. We have his bird rights, we are the only ones that can offer him an extra year when hes a free agent in 2026.
Im letting him test free agency. And if he walks, so be it. We are thinking about overpaying a guy who would be a sixth man on most contending teams.
If we want to continue the play in treadmill, pay him. One season of health, on a motivated contract year where he is seeking an extension, and a terrible first round against the cavaliers does not warrant an extension.
No, we can NOT afford to give that guy an extension.

Also i will bet the house he wont get max if he tests free agency. Just like i bet caleb wouldnt get the 65 million offer we offered him, he got half of what we offered when he tested free agency,,
And just like i know for a fact duncan robinson would not have netted 85 million if he tested free agency.
We always overpay.. always.. except if hes a legend named Wade. They we try to get a discount. the only player being paid his true value is Bam at the moment.

Brett Siegal does not have the pulse or connections of what the Miami FO has planned. This is an old tired rumor.

Re: 2025 Offseason Season Thread Vol. 1
Extending Herro is probably the easiest decision the front office has to make this off-season. As others have said, it’s like a 5% raise when you consider the cap. And quite frankly that sounds like a bargain when you consider he has been getting better every year. Unlike someone else who seems to have peaked a few years ago.
For a long time it gave me nightmares, witnessing an injustice like that. It’s a constant reminder of just how unfair this world can be.I can still hear them taunting him, Silly Rabbit tricks are for kids.I mean why couldn’t they just give him some cereal?

Playoff performance outweighs regular season performance, imo.
Herro was putrid, per usual.

Peaked a few seasons ago yet has clearly added to his game and almost broke the record for consecutive seasons in nba history with a PPG increase, majority of your alls favorite stat

Im going to say Herro peaked last season; on a season we force fed the offense through him, which got us below .500 and he got fraud checked and made into Ty Jeromes bitch in the playoffs. He does not have the athleticism, the measurables to do better than what he did last season.

Gets beat like a red headed step child on both ends of the court, dudes garbage when it matters most. He’s living off rookie season clout where he was a bench player.

Sell high, who’s the last champion that paraded a massive defensive liability who wasn’t a top 5 offensive player in the world as their number 1 option like we have the last 4 years?

If we settle for mediocrity by extending Herro, this will be the longest four years in Heat history. That arena will look like Marlins baseball games.

Im selling high, if some team is crazy enough to send us two protected firsts im giving him away before they get sense knocked into them. Hell if one of them is unprotected ima have that feeling like the day Lebron made the decision to come to South Beach.

We really don't know that. Using Caleb as an example is an apples-to-oranges comparison. Caleb was a d-league player that had a few good seasons as a role-player - people like that are always less likely to get big paydays. Herro was a literal all-star this season and one of the most efficient guard scorers. There will be plenty of teams interested in his services.
Keep in mind when Herro got his 30m extension 2+ seasons ago, everyone was upset over it. But now Herro @30m/season is an absolute bargain for the next 3 years.

I would like to propose that we don't. That seems like a viable alternative to me. There is no need to build from where we are because where we are is nowhere.

The thing about trying to sell Herro high makes no sense when you remember that one day of this new season means he only had one year left on his deal so instead of pennies on the dollar we will get lint balls. If we want to trade him an extension is needed asap.

I don't think he peaked. But I don't want to give him 150 mil dollars either. He's 25, he improved last season a lot. He will improve in the next couple seasons as well. It just how it is, players typically get better then they peak around 27 -32. But I wouldn't bet he would improve enough to be worth that money. But 90 % sure he's going to get better

Last champion who had a player in their top 3 that was such a defensive liability that opposing teams would just spam actions to continuously get them on an island?

That makes it simple then. If we go by recent playoff performance, the whole team and staff needs to go.
