Honestly its even worse than i thought. Noone is even trying to convince themselves of the pacers in the same way they were the heat in 2023 or dallas last year.

Everyone outside of Indiana is picking the thunder in 5. And i feel like that's because they don't want to be too disrespectful of the pacers. Thunder are HUGE favorites.

Of course the games have to be played and we have to see what happens.

I'd be very happy to be proven wrong here, but... its looking like the last really competitive finish we'll have had in 4 years will be warriors vs Celtics.

Well, it's the league's fault for rigging the Finals against the Mavs last season because they were planning to get Luka shipped to LA. They gave us Tony Brothers in game 2 to make sure that series never got off the ground, game 3 was filthy too.

when was the last time we didn't have an underwhelming finals to be honest? There hasn't been a game 7 since 2016.

Celtics lost 3 in a row. Wouldn’t say it was competitive just because they got 2 games out the series.

Only finals that sucked balls was 2023 Nuggets vs Heat.

Celtics vs Dubs was a classic. Every other Finals has been solid. Even last years Finals was okay. Maybe not great but not terrible.

So the way we’re measuring the Finals is based off if it goes to 7 games or not?

This year will be fine even if OKC wins in 5. The Pacers at minimum will be playing a fun style of basketball. Both teams love to put pressure on ball handlers and get out on the break so I think it will be a consistently exciting series to watch.

There are too many blowouts now because of the high variance of 3 point shots, I just want a competitive series.

Last years finals was pretty underwhelming..5 games where the first and last two were blow outs for the celts.

Heck in game 5 the celts were up 21 at halftime.

I'm expecting this to be a fun finals. Certainly better than just watching 2 teams bomb away from 3. The style contrast is immense, but both teams are really good at running off spurts when they play to their strengths. That doesn't mean it will be close, but it COULD get close at any minute in a pretty exciting way.

I'm looking forward to watching Hali and SGA fight it out. This should be fun.

Super teams make things worse, not better. Then they invariably go up against a non-super team in the finals. The year before this 3 finals stretch was Boston-Warriors. No super teams there and that was a very good finals.

Also maybe just maybe we should watch a game of the series before determining it sucks? Or is that just too much to ask from today's generation?

If you a true NBA fan you wouldn't call it underwhelming.

Steph Curry is going to go down as a top 10-ish player of all time and it took probably the best 4th quarter of his career to stop his team from going down 3-1 in the series. BOS really sputtered out in 5 and 6 so it wasn't like a classic or anything, but league would be doing pretty well if that series was on the "not competitive" side of the matchups.

I don't plan to watch a single finals game, not because the teams are underwhelming because the product is crap. I haven't been able to stomach more than 5-6 minutes of ANY game this season and i dont expect it to change so i might channel flip but i am not wasting 3.5 hours 4+ times over the next two weeks to watch whatever sport they think they're playing

OKC/Denver/Wolves vs Indy/NYC?

Don't get me wrong i think the conference finals will be awesome in the east if its indy/NYC...but wouldn't whoever wins that series be serious underdogs vs whoever comes out the west other than Minnesota?

Sounds like a personal perspective issue. Not a collective "wow these playoffs and finals suck". OKC is really good, and versus a clear under dog? Cool finals.
