As much as I loved Thibs for getting us to the next level, I never understood why Kat and Brunson aren't in PnRs, I never understood why Mitch isn't averaging a lob dunk a game, I never understood Hart play 42 minutes a night, I never understood why are wings aren't running off screens and why our defense has been a major disappointment. I may have the unpopular opinion that we don't need Giannis and Kat was criminally under-utilized during the regular and especially the post-season.

Whoever the next coach is, I hope it's a breath of fresh air.

Don't know if any of you saw this but CP/Macri were talking about the topic of Jason Kidd.
Essentially Knicks arent going through all this drama with Kidd without already knowing this is a decent possibility. Likely they have conducted behind the scenes conversations already and have a pretty good idea what it would take to get him..

This weird coaching search feels like it was an abrupt emotional firing and there is no plan. All we have is the completely invented smokescreen conspiracy that they already hired Bryant. Have they interviewed anybody at all?

I’ve seen this written before and I think people need to chill out. When did we fire Thibs? 5 days ago?

Teams don’t just start interviewing everyone and pick a candidate within 5 days.

I think the search is going to be extensive - and most teams do extensive searches. In fact, if they just went ahead and hired someone without interviewing anyone I would be more concerned. I want to see them cast a wide net. This is a very important position at one of the most important times in the franchises’ history. No need to rush it. Take your time and make the right move.

If Leon had hired someone immediately (who was already under contract with a team), he would have been subjected to tampering charges. Additionally, some fans would have expressed displeasure with him for not covering all bases and considering multiple options.

So, as I've said here a dozen times since Thibs was fired, I believe Leon already knew who he wanted as the next coach before he pulled the plug on Tom. Like any savvy businessman, he now has to go through the theatrical motions of appearing to examine all options and do his due diligence. Remember, he doesn't make moves to ease the minds of the fans, but rather in the way that's best for the franchise.

And remember the deal, the NBA and NBA teams have huge PR machines that try and control the narrative as much as possible. Its no surprise with the finals they dont want the Giannis stuff getting out of control. Hences the very specifically worded message of: Giannis has told teams he will not request a trade this offseason but also included the words 'at this juncture'. If Giannis actually stays this year he is basically saying he is staying there at least another 2 years bc Dames achilles will likely of been healed up by then. He isnt going to tread water this year without Dame just to leave when he is healthy again.....

If true it makes a Giannis chase EVEN MORE LIKELY.

Giannis is not CAA. JJJ and other potential targets are.

This can be viewed as a positive or a negative.

Of course there is always a chance they are totally aligned in what the Plan A approach should be in the offseason.

Its hard to think going after Giannis is a bad thing.

So Leon has been shut down by Houston and Dallas for Udoka and Kidd. I guess he will ask Minnesota for permission to speak with Fitch next and then pivot to Bryant, Brown, Walton and Nori.

I think Leon only did this so that he can prime the pump for Bryant to be hired.

Was also reported that if Dolan was the one forcing Leon’s hand he would be out the door as well as that wasn’t the deal when he was brought on.

Do I think Dolan talked a little more in the meetings with the players that anyone would like, sure, but the decision from almost all reports was direct from Leon with support of ownership.

Which absolutely makes sense if you’re going to tell the owner of the team he has to eat 30 million to bring a new coach in after the team just made it the furthest it’s been under his ownership.

My current feel on the Dolan rumors:



The "Power Play By WWW" seems to hold more water than Dolan acting autonomously right now but I've got my eye on it. Dolan may have had multiple managers below him squabbling so felt the need for oversight. That's not necessarily bad and could even be, dare I say, good management.

BKE posted the tweet promising shocking news, and then Thibs was fired a couple of days later. After that, he milked it for all he could trying to build up his number of followers. He even began selling BKE merch online. (With few followers, I can't believe he's sell that much.)

Then he came out with the Tsunami tweet. So we're still left with questions. "Somethig is going to happen" means "If anything happens, remember I precdicted it." It could also mean he has a source (rumored to be Leon's daughter) and began to worry he spilled the beans too much, and is in deep doodoo with Leon.

Either way, he's trying to dial it back now, telling us to stop fucusing on team news he said something he shouldn't have and focus on the finals where two small market teams in the middle of nowhere are fighting for a chip. Does he really think Knicks fans care more about that than huge trades or the next coach? Something smells fishy in the cornfields today.

He was literally part of the players interviews which isn’t normal. You can’t claim he’s not involved at all.
