both project to be solid rotation pieces. both also don't project to be great defenders.

with that said, do you prefer taking a connective shooter on the wing or a big that can score in the block and pass?

the lack of defense from kon would hurt less than the lack of defense from queen.

kon would already add to a crowded rookie deal 2/3 on the roster while queen would fill a hole. kon would mean a trade will have to take place between jakobe/ochai/gradey.

queen would be the backup 4/5 right away.

or do you take neither and look at bryant, jak, etc?

Take Kon and thank the draft gods that teams ahead of you reached. He's too good to pass up at 9 and none of our wing prospects are good enough to dissuade me from taking him. Take him and send Dick out for a later 1st and grab Sorber or Beringer

I think teams would trade up for Kon, but not Queens. I would trade back and get one of bryant/fleming + a big

I could get behind that too. I think the Magic would pay a decent amount for him (9+40 for 16/25/2026 1st). I'd do it as Beringer/Sorber should still be there at 16 and we can get a nice guard/wing prospect like Traore/Saraf/Hugo at 25

Combine
Queen: 6'9.25 w/o shoes, 7'0.50 wingspan, 247.8 lbs
CMB: 6'6.5 w/o shoes, 7'0.75 wingspan, 239.2 lbs

What CMB lacks in height, he makes up with wingspan.

I didn't say Queen is useless. I said he won't be good enough to play as your lone big, if you want your defense to be good.

Height and Wingspan are 2 different things....For example Queen can actually body up against the 7 footers and not give up total position down there....CMB a 7 footer would tower over him...

CMB would be a sole SF/PF in the NBA....Queen will be a PF/C depending on matchups.

CMB looks strong while Queen looks weak. I'm guessing CMB would be more like Draymond in the post. Too bad they took away the 180lbs bench press at the combine.

Queen is far from "Weak" just because hes not muscled up....No one can bully Queen or throw him around lol....You can go off Reb/FTR...Queen got to the line 218 times, CMB got to the line 188 times...Queen the better %s....9 reb for Queen, 8 Reb for CMB....

If Queen locks in the Gym and gets more muscle...His size advantage is something you can't train or develop...I think if Raptors pick Queen they will get him in good shape + develop him well...CMB i feel can only play PF And with Barnes here i don't see a fit ever where as Queen i think he will be a C/PF depending on matchups....

I haven't been following the prospects too much, but from a pure gut feeling about who would look good down the road on this team, ...

give me one of Kon, Bryant, Noa at #9...

then find a way to grab one of Sorber, Wolf, Flemming in the mid 20s. #24, #26 or #27 should be attainable.

I'd even trade next year's FRP for #14, if one of my likes at #9 above is available. I think the Spurs might take that bet.

At #39, one of Kalkbrenner, Broome, Markovic, Yang, Penda, Gonzales, or Sion James.

Whatever Masai needs/wants, as he has a pretty good draft record.

Sure. Where you go and the team matters, but Dray being a beast of a defender isnt because of them. He's arguably the best defender we've seen in modern NBA history, especially if you rate playoff defense highly (which i do).

It's like saying Rodman is nothing without Pippen/MJ. Sure, but that doesn't take away from Rodman's overall impact on winning teams.

Except it’s not because Rodman proved he could play without MJ and Pippen before they got him in Chicago.

I’ll be so salty if we don’t find a way to get Yang.

Who is calculating this BPM? I also assume it isn't league adjusted so Yang's is a little less impressive.

I’ve been calling for Broome, Yang or Markovic at 39 for a while. Broome is the less sexy pick, but I’d be surprised if he doesn’t go on to become a useful bench big. Brings a lot to the table on both ends and takes very little off.

Broome does seem like a Taj Gibson level player but would rather hope that Yang or Markovic is still there.

Highly doubt either will be there. If Yang can play drop coverage in a Lopez, Gasol, Edey type fashion, he’s draftable at 9. Tough to determine that though. Stamina is also an issue given the NBA’s speed.

Carter Bryant’s defense isn’t as good as advertised and is limited offensively. Lateral quickness also isn’t that great. He’s a low 1st rounder.

Queen has very bad interior and perimeter defense, but is good against ppl trying to post him up or out body him. He’s a do not draft.

Kon would make a good complementary player, but seems to struggle against athleticism and defensive pressure. He’s a back-up option.

Maluach may have back-up defensive C potential and could possibly work his way to being a starter in a prototypical Gobert, Edey, iHart, Livey, etc. role.

CMB needs to transition to SF or small ball PF. His perimeter D isn’t as strong as I’d hope for and his perimeter offense is quite lacking. Despite the talent, I don’t have faith in his potential to develop his perimeter game..not a fan of his shooting form (may take years to develop it to a mediocre level).

Only way I’d want Kasparas is if his shooting was real and he can regain it. Otherwise, there’s nothing else he does that is really noteworthy considering his weaknesses.

Still going with an Essengue, Yang (attain 2nd pick) draft
