Re: 2025 NBA Draft Discussion Part 8
Everytime we get a mock update or draft intel it only solidifies my belief that after the first 2 picks the lottery is going to be very fluid.
Ace Bailey 3-8
VJ Edgecombe 3-6
Tre Johnson 3-8
Jeremiah Fears 5-8
Khaman Maluach 5-12
Kon Kuneppel 7-12
Carter Bryant 9-15
Derick Queen 6-13
Asa Newell 11-14
Kasparas Jakucionis 7-12
Egor Demin 8-12
Noa Essengue 8-16
Colin Murray-Boyles 9-16
Those are just the player we know or should be in the green room waiting to hear their names called. It's why I'm not focused on 1 player. I'd list out players that I would be happy with at 9.

The one guy I absolutely do not want to draft is Jakucionis. I don’t see the talent or the fit.

We get Jak and Yang.
That fills our biggest needs with maybe the best fits in the entire draft. Could be a huge win for the Raps if it plays out like that.
We get a 6'6" playmaking/theoretical shooting big PG.
We get 7'1" high feel (passing and shooting upside) backup center.
I would argue those are perfect fits for this team. Both players have decent ceilings too.

I’m so down to turn into the early 2000’s Sacramento Kings. What a fun team!

Nah, I’d go one done for both picks; Khaman and Thiero will make for a great draft

Re: 2025 NBA Draft Discussion Part 8
Hes a top 5 talent and would only maybe be available at 9 because of the red flags he has....Which is why if he falls to 9 its a no brainer pick for me....I don't think Mal or Queen fall past 9 for the Raptors (Not even saying what id want just going off reports and logic) and if they both go before our pick that means one of Tre/Kon/Fears/Bailey fell to you which we should all be fine with....

They have us skipping on Maluach, which wouldn't happen.
I'd much rather Khaman at 9 & a PG at 39 or J.Watkins if he's there

In Raptor Ball I Trust

Yep. This would also be a nice haul from a fit perspective. Load up on defensive upside at C and wing.
Next years pick a PG or combo, or see what Walter evolves into as a soph.
We know we have a few holes: C, PG, Big wing defender.

Re: 2025 NBA Draft Discussion Part 8
Atlanta wants Maluach at #9 for sure. They let Capela, Levert and Nance walk to be like $20 million under the luxury. They could theoretically trade Mann, Niang and a future two 1st picks for KD?
PG Trae - Dyson
SG Dyson/Krejci - Mann
SF Risacher - Niang
PF JalenJohnson - Okongwu
C Okongwu - Maluach
Anyways, Raptors with #13 Carter Bryant, #22 Rasheer Fleming. Would like to trade Agbaji and #39 to secure the best big they can be it Yang, Markovic or whoever they want.
Would Yang and Chomche be the most complementary big man platoon?

I'd still have to wait until the Nets make their pick to see if there's anyone we can't pass up, but depending on what Houston/Portland/Chicago do that could net you the guy you want at 9 at a cheaper price + another guy you're considering in that 10-20 mix.
not opposed to dropping 4 spots if the guy we really want is gone but now you are going from a "who knows" player to a "who the hell knows" player. the extra pick will also eat into the little space we have before the 1st apron.

Only time will tell
I would say you could find a Jarrett Allen level player later in the draft and that Maluach may not be that much better to spend #9 on him.
I completely agree

the only pick we have later in the draft is 39. will jarrett allen be there at 39?

You always seem to propose these deals as if it’s all so easy. We just tell the other team what we want, and they meekly play along.
Rebuilding? What’s the problem? We send inferior player A for better player B and a high draft pick. Then do it a couple more times, and we’re all set.

Jarrett Allen plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers, silly.

Re: 2025 NBA Draft Discussion Part 8
Kinda pointless about daydreaming about a deal with ATL if their target is Maluach AS WELL...there's already been plenty of rumours of the Raps' very strong interest/promise to Khaman and I honestly believe there's little to no chance we'd pass on him or trade the pick that would be him.
Now if it were almost anybody else, I'd absolutely flip the pick even if Bryant is available at 9 because there would be a solid chance he might still be there at 13 and if not I would assume Coward is and worst case (that's actually still pretty damn good) is Fleming almost certainly will be. Then we add Yang (not Sorber, he's a fallback option if Hansen is gone) with the 22nd.
