To me it seems like it’s either us or the Spurs.

Question starts to become. Why would the Suns want Vassell’s contract? He’s 6’5 200 pounds forced to play SF with the Spurs when he should be playing the 2. Instead of spending close to 30 mil long term forcing him to play undersized SF again with Booker why not just take on the cost controlled JJJ and let Ryan Dunn keep developing at that wing spot? Houston scares me the most with FVV’s big expiring contract and similar young pieces to offer like Whitmore and some others that’s almost in lock step to our offer but FVV gives them a good PG for a year.

Houston definitely has a good offer but apparently only wants to take a swing at KD for a bag of potato chips and may not even be open to extending him. Fred is like the “heart” of their team supposedly and obviously you send him for KD but when you start adding other assets in the deal that’s getting further and further from what Houston wants.

If i’m the Suns FO and looking to fix the books taking on Vassell’s deal or even Keldon Johnson is an absolute no go. Would rather get expiring’s with cheap young talent attached. Vassell is not cheap. They would be paying Booker 75, Vassell 27, Allen 18/19. That’s a lot of money to be spending on an undersized 3 guard rotation after trying to make Booker and Beal work. More overpriced square pegs in round holes.

Draft is 2 weeks from today right? That night should be the end of this at the latest, or at least according to all these reports.

Yes. This gets done before or on draft day. Suns will want to take there guy before pick is made. Plenty of Centers could be available to them with 20th pick. Wolf, Sorber, and Raynaud make it a valuable pick for them.

The 20th pick is the value sweet spot for a team wanting a Center so the Suns are just in luck. No Ware but they’ll have plenty of high quality young bigs to choose from.

Were simply the best option from the Suns perspective.

If this is a horse race, I put Mia in last place.

I think Minnesota is last purely from an asset standpoint. No valuable picks, no way to make the math work unless they can talk Phoenix into Gobert which is hard without draft capital.

I'll give you that. Minny isnt setup too well.

They do have Dillingham as a young piece and can pair him with Randles big contract, but then would need to add in a few small contract fillers.

I still think Dillingham and Randle in general would be more appealing than what Mia is likely to offer.

Posted in draft thread. We have only worked out 2nd round and undrafted prospects. We started working out about 10 prospects including Kelel Ware last year on June 7th. Either we are late in this process or the pick is getting traded.
