No, this is just a one and done title team if they win that got hot, we've seen this before. Usually doesn't happen in the NBA but with the dynasty era over we'll probably see it more and more

I'm bandwagoning this Pacers team as the next guy, but an unnecessary thread for OKC doesn't mean we need another such thread for Pacers.

bucknut wrote:All these critical depth pieces are locked in for multi year deals , and of course siakam hali locked in

They just have a decision to make on Turner. Matherin is locked in next year and then he is the one depth guy that contract is up after next year

And with that contract for Turner they immediately become a tax team - add the picks and some min pickups, and we're easily talking about the 2nd apron territory.

bucknut wrote:But everyone else ? Nembhard just locked in to a great value deal until 28-29 Mcconnel up 30-31., toppin 28-29.. Neismith and Sheppard locked into value deals till 27-28

0 out of those 5 contracts are true. All are shorter. Come on.

I mean, Pacers future is bright, and they are lucky to have some bargain deals for the next 2-3 seasons, but with the new CBA even the luckiest front office will meet the tax/apron reality much quicker than in the past.

How is the East weaker than ever? Boston will sit out a year and then be back in the mix. Cleveland and the Knicks are both already 50+ win teams. The Pistons and the Magic should continue to improve and it´s unlikely that Orlando will have that much bad luck with injuries. Milwaukee still has Giannis.

That´s already 6 teams with the Pacers that seem pretty locked in for a playoff spot for the next few seasons + the Bucks being at least in the 6 to 8 range no matter who they put next to Giannis.

And that doesn't include teams like Miami, that always have the potential to be a solid Playoff team or Philly getting healthy.

I laughed at Philly getting healthy

Embiid will never play more than 60 games in regular season + playoffs the rest of his days

And guys like jarace walker and Enrique freeman on ice on rookie deals who can play

They have a first round draft pick this year, and 3 second round draft picks this year

The front office has been absolute nails.

The only upgrades for this team could be better rebounding big,, and maybe more free throw/iso driver half court guys since Matherin and siakam are the only ones

They probably keep Turner due to his history with the team and not to mess with a good thing, but could be argued that he is replaceable with that large contract and some of his limitations

a dynastic hallmark is consistency

indy can't be going up and down like this. they have to be internally consistent and not subject to playing when the mood is right. although who knows - in parity maybe being moody is good enuf. maybe all you have to be is be in the east and be in a good mood

And still they were a team that won around 50 games in the regular season for almost a decade. Philly getting healthy means players like Maxey, PG, Lowry, McCain, Oubre and so on not missing a big amount of games as well. They had 30 different players playing minutes for them and only 5 players that played at least 50 games for them this season. And those 5 players include Ricky Counsil IV, Guerson Yabusele and Adem Bona.

If they get around 40 to 50 regular season games from Embiid and the rest of the roster actually resembles an NBA team on a nightly basis they will definitely be a playoff team.

We've had 7 different champions in 7 years.

So chances are no.

Does that matter if they beat the team that won 68 games for a championship after beating another team that won 64 games?

You rattled off a bunch of teams the Pacers have handled with relative ease in their last 2 playoff runs. While acknowledging that the one team who beat them won't be in their way next season. Not sure what argument you're making here.

That I disagree with OP's statement of the East being weaker than it ever has been.

I also wouldn't say that they handled the Knicks with relative ease. Neither the Bucks in 2024. Injuries had a big impact on the Bucks and Cavs series this year. And I don't think you can always count on things like Nesmith or Nembhard shooting over 80% from 3 in multiple Playoff games like this year.

This could likely be Indiana’s year to win but dynastic aspirations are a bit premature.

Guys get injured and older (look at Boston) and despite the east looking weak atm teams like Detroit, Orlando, Atlanta, Cleveland, New York, Chicago, Miami, Philadelphia and others could improve next year and upset the pacers in the semis or conference finals.

If these playoffs have shown us anything, it’s not who you play but when you play them; Indiana’s has had the 2nd best record since January 1st, 2025.

If anything, the pacers will be scouted heavily and teams will build their rosters in the offseason to defeat them (look at Minnesota and Denver in 2024 and recently with New York and Boston).

Under this CBA era, probably not, and also this is a copycat league.

There's a reason why we don't see repeat champion, we don't even see repeat Finalists any more. 28 other teams are watching how teams do different things to try to expose you in the playoffs and will build teams and system with the goal of beating you. The Celtics were 16-3 and both the Cavs and the Knciks were designed to beat them. The Nuggets were 16-4 the previous year, and the Wolves built a big team to beat them, even the Thunder had to get bigger to deal with them in potential matchup.

The league no doubt has way more talent now, so smart team building is more important than ever.

pacers couldn't beat a healthy celtics or cavs team.

Pacers disrespect still continues to be rampant.still not being giving credit for this playoff performance due to lucky shots and injuries.

The pacers have not even been pushed this playoffs until now

The finals has consistently had rematches and the same few teams. Could easily be OKC vs Indiana again next year

Sure the new cap makes it harder , except when you already have your contracts locked in and depth unlike the nuggets did.

The club is very opposite of Celtics iso ball.

Definitely can see a golden state type run for Indiana , or Spurs. And many don't consider them dynasties, only the bulls. But pacers can be in the finals mix for next five years.

The toughest part about a scrappy underdog squad getting it done is the big heads and big paychecks that soon follow.

You can pretend like Indiana has great culture and it won’t happen to them, but you’re probably wrong.

Without looking, i think this is a troll/anti-jinx post from a Thunder fan since their dynasty thread *might* be the cause why they lose this NBA Finals. :D

The parity in the NBA is unmatched in the history of the league.

No one, not even Pacers fans, had them as a true contender at Christmas.

It’s insane what they’ve done this season.

But it’s not over so we’ll see who prevails.

This should be bumped continuously to humiliate OP. Even if they end up winning this series, this thread was a joke.
