Heat, Rockets, Spurs Are Kevin Durant's Preferred Trade Destinations; Suns Focused On Getting Best Deal

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sun Jun 15, 2025 1:59 am

The Phoenix Suns are involving Kevin Durant in finding his next team via trade. However, the Suns are focused on finding the best deal for the franchise, regardless of Durant's desires.

Durant has let teams know that he would prefer to be traded to the Miami Heat, Houston Rockets or San Antonio Spurs. Those three teams are the ones that the veteran forward would consider signing an extension with.

Phoenix remains engaged with six-to-eight teams in trade talks for Durant. In those discussions, the Suns have let teams know that they intend to make the best deal for themselves, even if that means sending Durant to a non-preferred destination.

The Minnesota Timberwolves, Toronto Raptors and LA Clippers are the other teams who have reportedly shown serious interest in acquiring the superstar forward. Durant has one year left on his current contract for $54.7 million. He's rumored to be seeking a two-year extension worth more than $100 million.

Good. That should keep Minny and Toronto from bidding for him, if he isn't interested in signing an extension with either team.

Toronto traded for Leonard so they might go for KD. Toronto was a 55 win team though when they traded for Leonard and he was a beast still.

Besides Barnes who the Raptors won’t trade, they don’t have any interesting prospects in comparison to what other teams can offer for KD.

If the Spurs bid Barnes, Vassell, and 14 that gets it done.

HOU would have to use FVV to match and that doesn't seem like the way they want to go.

If Reid and Randle opted in, those two and 17 would be a good play (they'd have to shop a little additional salary to a third team).

TOR is too far away to go after Durant. Same with Miami if we're being honest (but if PHX will take Wiggins, Rozier, and 20 you do it anyway).

True. It would be IQ/RJ and picks probably. I do not want the Raptors to give up picks for an old KD anyway.
