So many haters of trade ideas. Some folks on this forum either hate the players being rumored, or hate what we need to give up. They will never be happy until we get Wemby, SGA, Giannis for a bag of chips and a deflated basketball. Even then they might complain why we didn't get 5 unprotected first round picks in the deal.

Ya I recall Portland desperately trying to get rid Simons all of last year. He could be a great buy low candidate where we could squeeze extra assets with him.

Sabonis has struggled defensively because he has never played with a mobile PF who could also control the paint. We've seen Scottie is at his best defensively when hes around the rim and not on the perimeter.

Yak is the right fit. We need defense, the 3point shooting has to come from the other 4 guys, including barnes.

I don't see how Sabonis is a guy who needs the ball, I'm not sure where you're getting that from.

The defence is overstated, he's not that bad of a defender, he's just been on teams that have poor defenders around him, I'm not sure what you want from him given that. Do you think even a top level defensive C could compensate for a Kings team with DeMar DeRozan, D'Aaron Fox, Zach LaVine and Keegan Murray in the starting 5? Should Jakob Poeltl take the blame for the Raptors being a bottom 5 defensive team in 2023-24? In the same season the Kings were 15th in defensive efficiency all while playing Sabonis 35.7 MPG for 82 games, so he can't be as bad at defence as you say.

Sabonis is literally a scorer. And those usually need the ball.
And yes, he is terrible at defense. Just watch a game from him.

The only reason I could see POR interested in RJ would be as a distributor, which isn’t great because he isn’t good enough to justify hugh usage.

From the TOR side, it’s harder to see as I have seen reports that TOR is looking to compete and the #9 pick is on the table.

I mean, if it's the RJ/Poeltl #9 package it's a steal to me. You get 3 all-stars + Quickley to go to battle in the East, all locked up. Not the best fit with Scottie, but better than Scottie/Poeltl.

It did work with Turner. They had a very solid Net rating when playing together.

The problem was they weren't very healthy together. Indiana was smart to trade him, but that was because they got great value for him.

Sabonis has pretty consistently been a productive player on winning teams. You just have to build a proper roster around him.
