I found a trade that covers Charlotte in case KD leaves after the season. It's also better than any offers tbe Suns are getting now.

Bridges they had interest in him in the past and he knows the Suns owner Michigan St connection.

Bridges/Green/Grant/#4 pick for KD

KD leaves after the season Charlotte has massive cap space to replace his departure in FA.

We don't have to sign a star. Sign 3 solid players with all that cap space.

But I do seriously believe KD would make a huge difference here. I think LaMelo/Miller would play well off KD. Maybe we luck up and he ends up liking it here. The East is very weak next year with Boston down Tatum.

It's a gamble worth taking. Worst case scenario we get a bunch of cap space.

I think Charlotte would be better off building through the draft. A 37yo KD is not the answer for them.

Plus they'll get Steph Curry (welcome home, Curry!) on his final yrs in the league.

Trading #4 for KD for a 1 season rental would be a wild move. I'd be concerned if my GM brought that to me and tried to sell it. Hornets should be selling on everyone outside of Miller and Ball. Go full reset and get the cap space but you might as we'll stock assets for someone who fits your timeline.

Has Charlotte ever had success building through the draft? Do you believe they could reach a higher ceiling than a few years of late KD with their current core at any point in history?

I dont see it. Other teams, maybe. Charlotte? Nah.

They literally just started a rebuild 5 years ago. I have zero confidence they will draft the right player, and zero confidence they could develop his talent appropriately if they got the right guy.

Wolves and Spurs are out. Minnesota won't trade for him if he is not going to sign an extension.

Spurs won't trade pick 2 or any of their prime young players for a 37 year old.
