Not the exact same obviously but this game kind of reminds me of when Tatum got hurt in game 7 in the ECF against Miami. Injuries are apart of sports but its so annoying.... We will never know what may have happened if whatever player didn't go down.

That's the beauty of sports.
Just like Shaq, Kobe, Malone, and Payton were the heavy favorites to win in 2004 then Malone got hurt and out for the whole Finals.

Heartbroken for Haliburton and Indiana.
Boston easily dominates injured teams on the way to the championship. Meh doesn't count, they didn't beat anybody at full strength.
OKC barely squeaks by injured teams on the way to the championship. What resilience, dynasty in the making, all time great team.

See how stupid this narrative is as was last year when we won

Never gonna happen because Money is King, but really need to shorten the seasons. Regular Season meaning less and less every season and it is just harming the quality of the product at this point.

Yup, I was just thinking about this but like you said, zero chance. It's so sad. Money over everything is simply the world we live in.

What you're saying is the truth.
Back in the 80s and 90s, it was not money over everything.

I've said it a gazillion times- these long ass meaningless seasons are hurting the production on the court and the players, too. Heck, I'd say a lot of the players don't care and are cruising for a big chunk of the regular season. Which is probably one of the reasons LBJ is still playing.. He puts no effort into defense and plays around 20 minutes of the game actively on offense.
And yea, you're right, they'll never shorten it cause then the players would have to get lower salaries.
But for sure the NBA has lost a bit of its magic due to these super long seasons and how meaningless some of the games become.

Heartbreaking end to an incredible, historic season for Indiana.
That said, OKC deserved it. They've been the best team all season. Their fans deserved it too. Always nice to see a team built organically get rewarded.

Re: NBA Playoff Games 2025, Non-Celtics
Congrats OKC!
Presti constructed such a unique roster. 8 players on the team were 2nd round picks or went undrafted. Only Chet Holmgren (2) was a top 3 selection. And aside from him only Cason Wallace (10) was a top 10 selection.
I don't know if Presti figured this out or just lucked into it. But when you find undrafted or second round picks who can play, when it's time to extend them, you end up getting such value (Aaron Wiggins, Isiaih Joe, Kenrich Williams) because the entire league has already passed on them, the agent has no pressure to get a big number bc the player was a lottery pick, etc. Even Caruso and Hartenstein (not 1st round guys), the first contract each got (not from OKC), after their rookie deal, was such value because they were just hungry to make the league and get a contract, because a roster contract was never a guarantee for them

The regular season only recently became something viewed as meaningless. Sounds like a young person issue.
But there are many things that could be done to change that perception. Tie pay to games played, give teams with homecourt five home games in a seven game series, continued flattening of lottery odds, etc.

Players are getting injured left, right and center.
The 5 games to the home team idea is not viable at all, sounds a bit ridiculous.

Re: NBA Playoff Games 2025, Non-Celtics
OKC shot poorly from 3 in Game 7.
But in the 2nd half, they made the open 3s that mattered.
Either to extend the lead or to maintain the lead, OKC made the open 3s generated from kick outs.
SGA and J-Will starts the offense by trying to drive or pull up for a mid-range.
If the defense helps, they immediately pass it to an open shooter.
This season the Cs are doing the opposite.
They're hunting 3s first then pass it when they can't get a shot off.
That's easier to defend because the defense just keeps rotating.
I hope Joe realizes this and tweaks the offense this coming season.
But Brad has to do his part by getting players who attack the basket and not just shoot 3s.
