He's been given an invite to the green room, so I don't know how confident I'd be in saying he'll drop back into the early 20s.

If we did manage to drop back a bit and get into the early 20s I'd go for Beringer and a PG like Clayton Jr or Richardson.

Would be very happy to walk away from this draft with a future C and PG

Assuming Atlanta,

with #13 we draft Joan Beringer (Vecenie has him right next to Maluach on his board),
with #22 we draft Will Riley (although there's a lot of different ways we could go with this one).

What do you think of that idea? I have a hard time believing Masai would let Maluach go, but there's been rumblings of Toronto wanting to trade down and maybe they do like somebody better in that #12-13 range.

Here's their top 15:

1. DAL: Cooper
2. SA: Harper
3. CHA: Edgecombe (PHI trades down to #4 with CHA)
4. PHI: Johnson
5. UTA: Fears
6. WAS: Bailey
7. NO: Knueppel
8: BKN: Jakucionius
9: ATL: Maluach (TOR trades down for #13, #22, future 2nd)
10. PHX: Murray-Boyles
11. POR: Bryant
12. CHI: Queen
13. TOR: Beringer
14. SA: Coward
15. OKC: Sorber

Do that trade with Atl.

Draft Coward at 13, Yang at 22 and Proctor at 39

That would be a great draft filling holes while also having upside guys in Coward and Yang.

I like the trade, don’t love the picks. Intrigued by Beringer, even though I don’t have him near this high, and not a fan of the Riley pick.

24 players are always invited to the Green room.......Last year a few players who ended up going 2nd round were invited....Just because they get invited to the Green room does not mean they go lottery....Beringer will be available in the 20s unless a team reaches...

nah, he's been getting legit late lotto buzz. both vecenie and givony have him going in the teens in their latest mocks @ 13 and 14 respectively, and they'd have the best read on things in terms of somewhat legit intel from teams. you might have a different read on him personally, but I don't think he's a 20s guy at this point based on where the league sees him.

Underrated skill for bigs are hands and how they catch in movement off rolls and in traffic. Beringer has great hands and catches everything. One thing about KM that worries me are his hands are just average

Lots of discussion of Maluach only playing for 5 years. Beringer only playing 3 years.

That fluidity Beringer moves with is very special for a player his size.

I noticed that about Beringer too. Watching how he catches the ball while cutting to the basket he reminds me of Amir Johnson.

Yeah same here, Sorber seems like an old school PF big like Antonio Davis type with Wolf looks like a skilled big like a Jokic, Kevin Love type

Sorber is bigger than Jarrett Allen who has comfortably been a NBA C. For reference Sorber is 6’10 with a 7’6 wingspan and weighs 263lbs coming out of college. Allen is 6’9 with a 7’5.25 wingspan and weighs 243lbs

Allen was also significantly more mobile with a much higher vertical and 3-5 extra inches of hair.

Sorbers defensive numbers suggest he’s big enough to be a rim protector

Agreed. My only question is offense. I know he's super young and has only been playing 4 years, but is he going to be anything more than a rim runner and lob target? I think the defense will be elite. I just hope he can shoot a little, and maybe we could have a JJJ lite situation.

Agreed. This is a big part of what made Capela special. It’s super impressive. Beringer is just so raw though. I don’t love his non-dunk finishing and I don’t think he ever shoots it. Part of the appeal with KM is his ability to finish around the basket, and not just on dunks.

I don’t love the idea of drafting someone with the notion that you’ll teach them to play basketball. When it works you look like visionaries, when it doesn’t, the pick is an incredible waste of an opportunity and development. Masai keeps doing it, so it wouldn’t surprise me. In the case of Beringer, he might even be right (the movement and motor are great), but I would much prefer a different kind of bet.

yeah in that situation I'd take Sorber at 14 to backup Poeltl and then maybe Fleming if he's still there at 24.

Adding Sorber and Fleming to our FC would give us some really nice depth and then the added Houston 2026 1st would be cherry on top.

OKC has 15 players signed for next season, and that's not including all their picks this year.

OKC needs to consolidate, but this is Presti. He's going to control the narrative of "more picks" and there's going to be a sucker to take the bait
