It isn’t that. Billionaires don’t mind paying taxes, but this is a business and the Celtics have operating budget. By paying the releater, it makes them lose money and have to go get a loan or the owner cuts a check.

That’s dumb in this situation.

I was excited for a minute, until I realized who is leaking this name to bulpett? We all know Steve Bulpett was tight with Danny Ainge. So is Austin Ainge feeding our plans to Bulpett?

Like, what the heck. Why can't the front office play their cards closer to the vest. This is three years in a row, long wing (Walsh, O-Max, or Julian Phillips) in 2023 got leaked. Last year Baylor Scheierman got leaked to Givony. And this yr, Bulpett is announcing C's target the night before the draft.

What the heck? Is this revenge of Austin Ainge, lol, but not really... lol

No.

If we trade White, Brown and Tatum, that will be what it feels like.

Yea as long as they keep those three, when they step on the court together we will be good.

Tatum, Brown, White is a championship level core. They just need to find a dominant big man by the time Tatum gets back.

I find it very hard to believe that Simons and Niang was the best the team could do.

Thats about 5 steps back.

Team has no starting center, no good picks amd no tatum next season

Must be shooting for AJ.

No it isnt. That is not a champ level trio in this league...especially with Joe coaching.

A number of teams has a superior core

Brown is good, white is good. Two all star caliber players. I think Simons is a terrific offensive player. I mean, if they get good big man play they could be 45 wins.

Unfortunately this CBA is set up to have natural ebb and flow between contender, fringe contender, and retool and rebuild. It's very hard to continue a run even with home grown or traded for players, and it's extremely hard to build your team via free agency.

You'll see that in this next cycle of "NBA eras" the rise and fall of teams like this will be far more rapid.

We weren’t contending this year even with Jrue & KP.

Guys. It is agents.

So you keep your 3 best players and their cap holds. How do you get better? You're not signing anyone and you got nothing to trade.

As long as JB and White are on the team, it's a playoff team.

Simons will provide some of the offense that will be missed from JT's absence.

And PP will continue to be a great 6th man.

John Karalis‬

‪Writing my reaction to this trade now, but I have to say this because I THINK the sequencing of this trade is pretty smart. I could be wrong, but C's seem to be using Brooklyn's cap space to take Porzingis (creating a TPE for Boston), then BK sends him to Atlanta, and then Boston gets Niang via TPE.

It'll go down as a 3-team deal, but I think this might actually be three separate trades properly sequenced to send out a $30 million guy and get $8 million back.

I will put this here. Let's not act like Simons didn't put up 23, 5 and 4 just two seasons ago.

Too bad he can’t guard a chair and can’t drive nor properly play within an offense.

I can’t wait til he’s traded already along with fat boy NIANG

KP couldn't rebound to save his life. Couldn't play in the playoffs, two seasons straight. KP couldn't hold his position in the post.
No one talks about that. KP had no value left. But they want to **** on Simon's defense?

For everyone complaining...seriously....what was your expectation? keep everyone and run it back and win? Are you aware of a turned down trade of Prozingis for Giannis that we are all unware of ? What did you seriously expect?

They team had to shed salary in a big way. They couldn't trade for equal value.

At this point, Jrue looks done and Simons is the better player. KP is pure trash in the playoffs. So he got traded for trash because he had no value in the league. He will play really good in the regular season for the Hawks and crumble in the playoffs.

This had to happen this season. If Tatum doesn't go down, I still think some machination of this was bound to happen this season. Cap space for absorption is getting increasingly rare.

Exactly!

It could have been worse.

Some were saying the Cs would have to attach 1st rnd picks just to unload Jrue and KP.

Still early, but Kornet won't be coming back at this point. Someone will overpay him. Loved the improvements Kornet back as a back up but he will struggle if he is asked to start.

Not ideal but all things considered getting anything for Jrue and KP once Tatum went down is a win. Most people thought picks would have to be attached to move them.

It’s like we were playing without Porzi anyway, we were winning without him every single time.

Depends on what Simons can bring, we’re currently only down Jrue (the idea of him from the cup run).

Al and Korny will be known later, so can’t really say.

We really aren’t much different than last season before injury. Yes, we’re down Tatum, this same team was good without him (won without Jrue too IIRC). Just stay good until he comes back a month or so before the playoffs.

I never said we’ll win or get to the chip, I’m just not counting us out and thinking will be trash. We haven’t done much of anything that tells me we are much worse. Much worse than the chip team? ABSOLUTELY, but that was what we were last season anyway.

I know what some of you are saying, I heard you, I’m just not listening right now.

I really want to know what has changed from last season, so far? What have we lost?
