Re: 2025 NBA Draft Thread, Part 2 – Capture the Flagg
Looks like we worked this guy out:
23 yrs old so very old..and played in a mid major conference so weaker competition. But looks good in these highlights. He shot like 43% from 3 this season on good volume yet I'm :53 into the highlights vid and it's all defense, athleticism, driving and ball handling so I'm kind of intrigued.
Could at least be worth a summer league team spot.

Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

Looks like a good fit in terms of the team’s family values.

Stick him on the summer league team let’s go.

They are going to draft a couple seniors/upperclassmen unless a ton of trades go down.
Nique, Wolf, Clayton, Fleming, Reynaud, Kam Jones, Broome, Kalkbrenner, Lanier, Amari Williams, Javon Small, Sion James etc etc come on down.

Brooklyn now has 8, 19, 22, 26, 27 and 36. No way they make all those picks.

Word is Stevens wants to get into the lottery and Kasparas is a target.
I like that he came over to the states to play college ball. Good exposure and I’m sure Stevens using his midwestern scouting roots.

Any speculation on his plan to enter the lottery top-10?

Unless we are flipping simon.. drafting a point guard would be a horrendous idea. Unless you really think that point guard is the second coming of someone big time.
We need a 5 or 4 and a 3 much much more than a combo Guard. Easily.
2 things need to go.. my lack of spell check and Joe..

IIRC Yahoo has him going at 14. He's only 19. Would Brad put him on the Jordan Walsh plan -- or is he intentionally stacking up net-negative defenders at this point to tank for next year's much better draft?

I think Jakucionis could go anywhere between 7-17..this draft seems like it will be pretty unpredictable after the top 2 picks.
I would think since it's just a bridge year next season, they would probably throw him into the fire and play him as a rookie..especially if they think he could be the PG of the future..perhaps play in g league a little bit in the 1st half of the season..

I do remember he got off to a super hot start (Jakucionis) and I thought **** this kid could be the #2 pick.
Nov/Dec he was 25/60 from three with a great two point % and a bunch of steals then cooled way off from deep. Still good inside the arc numbers and fts though.

I had him as high as 3rd on my board, early in the season when he was hot.
But then he had the forearm injury, their schedule got tougher and opposing teams got tape on him so they were able to gameplan for him better.

How did he hold up getting by his guy as it got tougher? I don’t care about the shooting numbers, that’ll work itself out. His passing vision is elite. It’s really can he get by his man, and hold up on D.

As the schedule got tougher, it was hit or miss. He did have moments here and there where he had some impressive drives, showing a combination of burst and craft. He has good touch around the rim, good at drawing fouls. But there were also times when (as the schedule got tougher) he wasn't able to get by his man as well and he would settle for off the dribble 3's (which were hit or miss) or just make a basic pass somewhere with no real advantage being gained.
He just wasn't as good later in the season..but did have his moments here and there, with some clutch shots or impressive drives/passes.
It also seemed like turnovers became a bigger issue for him later in the season, as the schedule got tougher as well. Sometimes just coughing the ball up while being pressured as he would bring the ball up..

Re: 2025 NBA Draft Thread, Part 2 – Capture the Flagg
If past trade are any indication packaging #28+#32 probably gets the C's to the #20-#22 range value wise. If the trade was hauser OR pritchard +#32+#28 that seems like enough to get up somewhere in the lottery, of course its tough because someone had to want that combo of picks and players. The value may be fair, but there are only so many trade partners in the late lottery.

Thanks, not super encouraging, but it happens. All about how you learn from it / respond. I still wouldn't hate the potential, esp if Brad/team truly see something in him. It's kinda tough to value elite playmaking, tbh. There's just not that many dudes doing it anymore. Turnovers, like AVC says, I don't mind overly aggressive pass ones. But TJ McConnell* throwing the NBA finals away under pressures ones aren't great.
*Sorry for the stray TJ, it wasn't your job to have to be in that situation. But it also did not go well...

Ainge had 8 picks in 2016. He traded 31+35 for a lottery protected future first from Memphis. And then he made the other six picks.
lol, what a mad lad was Danny
