FVV back to the Rockets on a pretty team friendly deal. The West is going to be a bloodbath next year.

Re: 2025 Offseason Trade and Free Agency Thread (The Fun Never Stops Edition)
I’ll say it until I’m blue in the face, we didn’t lose anything basketball related with Porzi because he was unavailable or terrible when it mattered. We are not a worse team because we sent him out. We also weren’t losing without him despite the less than stellar numbers in the regular season.
The jury is still out on just how much we will lose from Jrue, Al, and the Korny group.
Jrue was bad last season too, so we’re not talking Chip Jrue. If we keep Simons and he can give what he has in Portland and maybe more (some defense), then it will be, at worse, a wash from last season’s Jrue.
To me, if we don’t do a big trade, what is done on the margins, from here, will tell us just how far we have fallen.
I don’t know what Utah would do with JB, but if we choose to move him, they will come off more than the spurs would be willing to, given their circumstances. I’d try and work with them, even though #2 is the better initial chip. Then again, Austin knows too much, and DA hates losing trades as much as Brad.

Re: 2025 Offseason Trade and Free Agency Thread (The Fun Never Stops Edition)
I'm a little worried because all the deals I look at for teams in the top 10 picks that I would do for JB all seem like long-shots from the other side. I feel like they're all far more likely chancing that we bite on a #2-9++ package rather than some sort of godfather offer where we are getting a top 10 pick plus 3 other picks and some usable rotation pieces.
Bane just went for some negative salary in KCP (not too bad) and 4 firsts but none likely top 10. I've got Brown>Bane but by how much on that supermax?
Trust Brad to get a haul if he pulls the trigger but my expectations are sky high because I don't think it's a good idea, so we better be getting bowled over by the offer (especially if it's not the Spurs and we don't even have our pick of the litter).

I know a good amount of you are ra ra everything is amazing we have a **** green teamers but anyone who's realistically looking at it see this team as cutting 15 to 20 wins off last year total.
It boggles my mind that the bar is apparently the playoffs.
Way. Too. Low.
This just in Tatum injured. Might result in fewer wins. Keep this secret so you can post more about it and no one will know you're not a genius next year.
Ah. Yes. The Tatum was hurt so we have to sell off all our players and rank the year.
Oh wait. That's not what they're doing?
What's your point?
Tatum is done. Not just next year but most likely forever. His timeline doesn't match the Celtics anymore.
We're worse today than 2 days ago and it has nothing to do with Tatum. You know that right?
Again this just in, needed to get under the second apron, had to trade good players without getting full value. Your mastery of the obvious is breathtaking. Tatum is done because he

No idea.
I'd imagine they'd want us to take a Quickley deal built around the 9th pick, but there's no way I'm trading White for that.
Maybe something like Barrett and the 9th, but that feels like an overpay for the Raptors.

I don't think this team's going to be very good. Between 38 and 44 wins tops.
44 wins could be right. The thing is it probably gets you in consideration for 4-6 seed because the East is beat up with injuries. If Tatum does come back then this roster has a shot. Again it all depends on him and you could have a situation where Brown takes that next step and becomes the 1 option. It’s all logical and possible. However if you’re going to tear it down it’s not logical to do it now. Wait until Tatum is healthy and assess from there. Otherwise you’re going to be trading someone who is pissed off about being in a rebuild and rushing back from his injury, thus diminishing returns.
This team is WORSE next year, even if Tatum comes back healthy and ready for a deep playoff run.
They struggled against the Magic and lost to the Knicks.
Sorry I'm not all that hyped about being one of the dudes with the lottery ticket and maybe just maybe the numbers come out our way and we make it to the finals and get mopped by the thunder.
Lets focus on the reality. The Celtics with the Jays have historically underperformed, outside of one year. That is going to continue now that they lost all their depth.
Sure. Last year they were completely banged up, before then you had a bonehead culture led by Captain Marcus and Admiral Williams.

Re: 2025 Offseason Trade and Free Agency Thread (The Fun Never Stops Edition)
I really hope they don't trade Brown or White... they slashed so much salary already and left themselves with much less costly (basketball wise) avenues to shed more. I understand the allure of restocking things completely asset wise but I'd just rather not tear it down.
Look... Giannis seems like he'll ask out eventually. OKC eventually has to trade someone. CLE probably breaks it up if they don't get over the hump eventually. So on and so forth. I don't buy this total doomsday scenario some people here push that they won't ever have a good team around Tatum if they trade Brown/White. You get hauls of young players/picks and eventually Stevens will trade them for star(s) if they don't become them on their own. I'm like 95% sure of it. But I don't want to stomach that 5%. Team's already really, really good core. They have the flexibility to keep all of Tatum/Brown/White/Hauser/Pritchard for their deals and all of their 1st rounders while ducking the tax this year and next. It's already a great starting point, no need to tear it down further IMO.

This is actually a good point. KP out our ceiling is way lower, it our floor is about the same since his availability is a big component of who he is.
Jrue? Love him. He is declining and that is OK.

Amen, that's not the Celtic way either. we believe in culture as much as anything. You don't build culture by tearing teams down and rebuilding. You do that when you are desperate or you post on realgm

Ya I don't really see the appeal. #9 plus a future first and a swap and it's more interesting
Regardless I don't get what the Raptors are doing. They have some talent but they are all #3 scorers and no line of sight to the #1, the critical championship piece

If these guys decide to blow things up like many here would like to see..... Buy your JT Lakers jerseys now, because it's happening if you ship out his crew! I'd like to bring in his boyeee Bam Bam from the Heat, not sure what that would entail. Maybe get Riley drunk one night and have him sign on the dotted line lmao

Re: 2025 Offseason Trade and Free Agency Thread (The Fun Never Stops Edition)
I could understand the Brown/White trade ideas if you had to do it to duck the 2nd apron or even the tax. But the Jrue deal returned an expiring deal and thus an easier to move contract and they saved way more than I thought they would for Porzingis without including any assets. They set themselves up where moving White/Brown is totally unnecessary even if they want to duck the tax.
Trade one of them for a better player? Fine by me. I could even rationalize it to some degree if was a firmly established but still younger/cheaper player who might not be quite as good but you think will be better in 2 years than those guys because that's probably a more realistic timeline.
Like I'll throw this out there as a random idea... White to IND for Nembhard/Toppin. White obviously better, but he's going into his age 31 season compared to age 26 for Nembhard. Tatum will be out for White' sage 31 season and probably still working his way back to form somewhat in White's age 32 season. I think a very valid argument can be made that Tatum won't really be bready to lead a team to a title for another 2 seasons, at which point Nembhard could be better than White at 33 years old. Not saying I'd agree, but I can rationalize that type of motive. I can't rationalize a total teardown when it's not needed.

All reports suggest they're handling this appropriately. If they get the godfather offer, they can pull the trigger. But that's unlikely right now.
