It matters how you lose. Does anyone see INDs, or DENs season as a failure this past year? On the flipside, CLEs or MINs?

It's not about always winning the championship, of course, that's important, but when you continue to lose the way the C's have lost, it's unacceptable to me. The common denominators are Brad, JT, and JB. Pretty sure that's why Brad left coaching. To me, JB is the odd man out and the first real domino to a reset.

My response wasn't to you, but to the person you bubble quoted.

The Celtics have underachieved the entirety of the Jays term here. Minus 1 season where they had so much help it would of been unprecedented for them to blow it.

And if you can believe it or not a lot of people around here would tell you that they actually overachieved for many years.

WE are on the same page, believe me.

Yes you two are. Perfect fit.

You wouldn't love to see it though that's the gag. Even when they won the Finals in 2024 you still were crying about some nonsense of "they should have swept the Mavs instead of in 5". It's ok to admit your whole shtick on here is getting old.

What value are you adding? Serious question. Not meant to attack but what's the point of all of your posts?

What a diaster post. One of the worst of the board history.

What you meant to say was that before the season started I had them with over 60 wins and winning the finals easily and my Celtics in 5 pick was true in every round minus the one round they overachieved.

But that doesn't fit your narrative.

**** out of here with your nonsense. We got no place for clowns.

LMAO yes of course you did. Have ridiculously high standards such as 60+ wins and win the finals in 5. So if they don't reach that, you can just $hit on them and say "See this was my prediction they should have done this".

Again, your shtick is getting old. Could you let us know what value you add with your posts?

And please don't get in your feels saying "one of the worst of the board history". It's 4pm on a Wednesday on draft day. Lighten up, little guy!

Theres your core 4 build around that, white and Simons are elite shooters

If Tatum doesn't get injured, 100%

Tatum is gonna be back so i dont think it should matter
Lets say worst case out all year.

Giannis white simons is a top 5 team east

But you get tatum back and its over for the east

I don't think the owners are going to want to pay the massive taxes for that team. It will be for 5 or 6 years straight.

2024-25 - Salary Cap $140.6M / Luxury Tax $170.1M / 1st Apron $178.1M / 2nd Apron $188.9M

Tatum, Freak, White

2025 = $136.3M
2026 = $147.1M
2027 = $157.9M

If the owners are good with it, I certainly am, but considering we've already moved KP/Jrue it suggests they're not.

Hey, step back into reality, when did someone say we are winning the chip next season? Not winning the chip doesn’t equate to being trash! If the Celtics are a good team next season, but they don’t win the chip, you were still wrong plain and simple.

Actually. That's my point, full stop and 100% emphatically stated.

Blowing up your roster to save money against the tax does not mean you get flowers for making the playoffs and winning a round or two.

The Jays are in their championship window and not winning it is a complete waste of time.

This is the **** I mean with the green teamers. You don't live in the real world.

There isn't a single **** scenario where I applaud the Celtics for making the playoffs. None. Let's get that out the way now.

The reason they moved KP/Jrue was because of the 2nd apron and the penalties from this horse$hit CBA. But I understand 90% of "fans" won't understand that. The moves yesterday were to get under the 2nd apron to give them flexibility for when JT returns.

Sucks he got hurt and next year is essentially a throwaway year.

Will quit the board right now if you find a post where I'm bitching about not sweeping the Mavs.

love to see this magical post where I stated we were sweeping them and threw a fit for not having done so. Would really make my day.

It's interesting that my predictions = ridiculous high standards and only made in order to bitch for them not having met those expectations. I must of been really bummed that they met my expectations and just ruined my day :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

Definitely a positive, but if you think the finances have nothing to do with it, I disagree. The 1st and 2nd aprons have nothing to do with money, and saving money is on the agenda.

Anyways, how about you stop trying to derail the thread since you're in your feels when I simply ask what value you bring to this board?

We do not care if you think it’s a complete waste of time! Only one team wins every season. Celtics have won 2 times in the last 40-ish years. That’s facts over feelings. We can do EVERYTHING you say and still always lose in the playoffs! Do everything you think is genius and still come out no better than the jays! You think you’re some Nostradamus? Most of the Celtics history has been a waste of time to you, huh? 18 chips out of 79 years!

The 2nd apron has a lot of basketball-related implications that go beyond just the luxury tax though that's the thing. To name one, you can't aggregate salaries if you're above the 2nd apron in trades.

So yes, it's both a cost-cutting (luxury tax savings) but more importantly is about being less hampered by the rules if you're out of the 2nd apron.

Luxury Tax Line
Crossing the tax line ($170.814M for 2024–25):

Teams pay a luxury tax on every dollar above this amount.

The tax is progressive—the more you go over, the higher the rate per dollar.

Rates start at $1.50 for every $1 over, and increase in steps (see below).

The tax bill is calculated based on how far above the tax line a team finishes the season.

2024–25 tax brackets:

Image

If a team has been a tax team 3 of the last 4 seasons, they pay "repeater tax" even higher rates (starting at $2.50 per dollar).

Seems like a low bar for the Celtics.
