A strictly on-court performance argument could be made to justify this.
But Masai brought a level of credibility that as a Canadian-based team, we needed.
Getting free agents was already a nightmare, Masai at least made it somewhat possible. Retaining our own will also be more difficult.
I miss the days of the original Blue Jays (Labatts) ownership: hire good people, provide resources they need, and stay out of their way.

It was a long time coming but the roosters have finally came home to roost. This was the inevitable outcome when all of the progressive owners started selling their stocks. We’re stuck with Rogers sadly.
the blue jays have been rolling out a high pay roll for more than a few years now. a good decision here or there would have changed tragectory of the jays.
you many comment of the decision making of rogers but you cannot comment on them being cheap with jays.

Yuck. Rogers ruins everything. Hopefully Bobby steps up into the main role and we get to avoid whatever disaster class Rogers will hire externally to run the team for a while.

Exactly Masai is very well respected in NBA circles. The players love him too. Who wouldn't the guy is an amazing success story only Ed Rogers the silver spoon bafoon has an issue with him.
As a Raps fan from 95 this is a very dark day. I fear we will go back to irrelevancy.
There was always a feeling with Masai here that we will be OK.

Seems more disrespectful than anything when they could have let his contract play out.
Bobby has probably had more decision-making control than we have given him credit for—he is the GM after all and was the key to start of the Kawhi deal.
I’m interested to see how they spin this. Shams’ wording about Masai being “out” makes me think they will sell it as him moving on (especially if signed by a new team shortly) rather than him being fired.

You can comment on them keeping the Jays FO in place for this long.

I don’t think there will be any replacements, it’ll be just be solely Bobby running the show as the GM like the Leafs

From a business standpoint, Jays are well run organization. They also spend a lot. The mediocre GM of the team is a separate issue.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

I would just like to personally extend my middle finger to all the posters who have actively helped to run Pascal and OG and now Masai the legend out of town. Up yours.

Apparently getting easily bounced from wild card games is actually good management.
While spending on the upper tier of teams, while having a bottom five minor league system.

Why the hell would you like Masai work the draft and prep for free agency in 3 days if you are going to let him go?
