It's so tough to gauge this team. Obviously we weren't really a 30 win team. Probably closer to 37-40.
So adding Ingram will add a few more. But will he and everyone else be healthy.
Raptors have the largest range of outcomes.

Raptors finished 15th in Defensive Rating last year. The top 14 teams all made the playoffs.
We’re not nearly as bad as our win total suggested, and we added an all-star calibre player. The East is pretty congested, and I don’t see major differences in quality between a lot of teams on paper.
Whatever teams stay healthiest reach Top 6, the rest battle in the play-in

The current team is 5th seed ceiling if all goes well (which seldom happens). But I'm thinking the team that starts the season is going have a different look, so anything goes. There's the possibility the new President will not be happy with 5th seed ceiling and decides on major changes.
The current starting lineup as a group has average 6.6 years in the league, so it's an established team that should be at peak or near it. Plus, they are not a good fit together. The new FO could decide to rebuild with a less experienced team with greater upside.
If that happens then we're likely back to topping out in play-in territory or maybe even another lottery spot. Frankly, I hope this is the way we go. Yes, the East is wide open this year if the goal is to come out of the East. But if Championship is the goal, then we need a major reset.

We win 3 more games that last year when we were intentionally losing games?
Cmon bro. Your negavitiy is getting out of control.

I don't see us with a .500% record. I stand by it. Just like the last few years, I predicted us to be somewhere between 20 and 35 W. Things didn't change sadly, so we still stuck in that range. Ingram won't move the needle, he's just not a winning player, the construction is a mess, IQ don't have a real impact, RJ is still RJ, Ujiri is gone, new VP...
I'm not negative, I'm just being realistic.

Everyone predicted 20-35 wins the last year. We knew we were tanking. Not something to hang your hat on.
A healthy Ingram and Quickley are worth more than 3 wins vs the players they are replacing in last years rotation. And we'll try to win when last year we weren't.
If we tried to win last year, we probably would have had 35-37 wins? So your predication is we'll be worse?
It's not being realistic. It's being needlessly pessimistic.

Re: Do the Raptors avoid the play-in and make the playoffs next year?
I don’t expect any FA moves with our cap. If smart they would trade for a backup C (Jalen Smith or Goga Bitadze)
Saying they are dumb and do nothing to diversify then it comes down to BI and Jak health. If BI plays 62+ and Jak plays 70+ we are in 5-6 range with the fact that Boston, Bucks and Indy missing one of their top 2 players.
If either goes down for long stretches we can still make playin. If both go down we are in tank mode.

Not really, many posters had us in the play in or postseason.
We'll talk again in a year.

Raptors desperately need a backup C and we have no idea what other teams will look like exactly to make definitive prediction. We need to see how the offseason ends.

there's still a summer of moves left! lol.
east is wide open but it's competitive. a lot of good teams. will come down to chemistry and health.

Re: Do the Raptors avoid the play-in and make the playoffs next year?
We’ll be a 40 win team imo.
Whether we get 45+ wins will be dependent on health and if BI and Scottie are able to get back to their all star level of play.

I think the range will be from Seeds #6 to Seeds #11
I think the most likely scenario is a seed in the play-in : #7 to 10
If we wants to be more precise, it’s probably 8-9 in the east
We should win 41 wins +/- 5 IMO
I think last year our range was between 21 and 41 wins and 31 as middle
I think this season it will be 36 to 46 wins with 41 wins as middle

If 6th in the East is around 44 wins, then sure it's possible....would need very good health though. Injuries is the main concern.

Re: Do the Raptors avoid the play-in and make the playoffs next year?
I expect Indy to retain Turner and still be in the top 6. Hali wasn’t that impactful to their regular season last year. They have enough depth to ride out the season.
Boston seems to want to lose and hope for a Spurs losing Robinson for a year and drafting Duncan, type scenario.
Milwaukee likely was dropping out of the top 6 even with Lillard.
So 2 new spots in the top 6. One likely going to ORL and the other between TOR, DET and…. ATL? PHI?
Pretty slim pickings.

I actually think the Hornets could surprise, just was watching their draft intro presser, and this draft class seems like they'll turn their program around.

There is no way this team without a catastrophic amount of injuries will be a 33 win team lol. I am low as hell on this roster and I think they at least break 40 with reasonable health.

Props TZ!

Re: Do the Raptors avoid the play-in and make the playoffs next year?
I had expected a big turnaround this season, but with Masai’s firing, I now expect most of the players to be focused on their own individual goals/stats to enhance their chances of being moved or signing elsewhere in FA, which won’t work as well in producing wins.
