I can understand moving on from one of them, but surprised that it might be both. I'm curious to know what the team's expectations are for this season.

With the Ingram trade, it seems they want to be competitive and maybe make play in at least.
If things work out, management will be praised. If they don't, ownership will be blamed.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

Moving RJ off for salary and redundancy reasons.
Moving IQ would be mainly for an upgrade at the position reason imo.

Still standing strong on the opinion they don't end up moving IQ or RJ before the start of the season.
Smoke ≠ Fire, and there are so many ways to get under the tax line at the deadline or even at the 2026 draft if need be. No need to rush and dismantle the core before they've even played a game together

I dont know If i believe all this "Shedding Cap-Space & Salary" narrative.
I think the message since the trade deadline has been the Raptors adding talent. Bobby Webster has said it multiple times. There's a reason we're in all these rumors for big players. The message from Pelley in the conference yesterday was also trying to make ourselves back in the playoffs ASAP.
I think any trade involving RJ and IQ will be for more talent coming back. Imo

Asbsolutely not. RJ and IQ both flourished as young assets and is literally our starting backcourt. OG is getting paid $214M lmao

I think 99% of playoff teams would rather play OG 44M a year than pay IQ and RJ $60M a year.

I'd hold IQ, unless we can acquire an upgrade that really moves the needle. It's really just injuries with him. With the Raps, he's putting up 18/6/4 on 42/39/85 splits and it's not easy to find guys who can hit a high volume of 3s on that kind of %.

Ready for IQ and 4 first round picks for Trae Young?

IQ and 3 firsts for Garland and you got yourself a deal.

I don’t think this team will move on from Quickley so “Quickly”. You can make the argument that you already have a better fit in Ochai that will probably be cheaper as well that allows you to move Barrett to fill team needs or financial flexibility and Ochai, Dick and Walter soak up those minutes.

I don’t think you guys exactly realize how invaluable RJ is to the league. We are not getting draft compensation for RJ without taking bad a horrendous contract in return.
A good backup center that’s on an expiring would be a great outcome to get RJ off the books for MLSE.
He was a throw in for a reason in the OG trade, we did not suddenly change his perception around the league with his play under us.
No. RJ is a better player and contract. And you'd have to add Ochai to make the salary work. its dumb portland doesnt want this deal and raps dont either
RJ isn’t the better contract because Ayton is on an expiring one.
Raps would gladly do this trade, not sure about Portland.
That's a terrible deal, zero chance Raps do this.

YOU wouldn’t do this lol. Raptors don’t value RJ like y’all do.

Including the Knicks. The real test of the trade is, pretending the money was equal, if you swapped IQ and RJ back for OG (and Precious if you like), the Knicks would be a worse team.
There goes my hero. Watch him as he goes.

Unsure how you have any more insight into the Raptors' valuation of RJ than anyone else on this forum. No matter how anyone values RJ, it's safe to assume spending $35 million on a backup centre isn't something in the cards

You’re not paying 33M for a back up center. You’re paying that price to get an expiring 33M off the books by next summer instead of paying RJ 57M + over the next 2 years.

They don't value someone like Ayton either who is the complete opposite of what they look for in a player.

I can't help but think they may want to push a defensive identity. If they put Shead and Ochai (or even CMB) in SL for RJ and Quick we would be pretty damn tough to score against.

It’s not about valuing Ayton. It’s about valuing his expiring contract.
If you’re swapping 2 negative assets, would you rather pay $35M for one year or pay $57M over the span of 2 years when you’re already a luxury tax team.
Poeltl will decline his player option at the end of the next season as well. Good luck extending him if RJ is still on the books.

IQ is a great catch and shoot 3 point shooter, which hopefully will be taken advantage of with Ingram.
Moving RJ for centre depth would be ideal.
