I hope this is just smoke, but the USDA doesn't typically waste their time. This really sucks for the Pistons and Pistons fans. They're a young, badass team, that's just about to make some noise. I think they'll be contenders regardless, but they don't need this kind of distraction.

If there's a reason to investigate, usually they have enough evidence to support that there's something there, right? If they indeed do find something, what is the punishment? A fine? Multi-game suspension? 1 year suspension? Life-time ban?

They have a 99.6% conviction rate. Beasley did it and he will be charged soon

If he's convicted, it'll be a lifetime ban.

I’m sure this is happening a lot more than the NBA is admitting and honestly it’s as a result of all the gambling ads, commercials, etc. Just nasty work all around.

I hate to be this crass about it, as we are talking about wrecking a man's life and that of his wife and child, but the Piston's must be breathing a sigh of relief that they didn't sign his extension.

The timing here is really something. They announce this a day before free agency starts?

Athletes have been gambling long before the ads and commercials

Hmmm…it’s almost like advertising it on team floor and making money off of it as ad partners sort of entice players to do so.

And now colleges are thinking about letting their athletes gamble on “professional sports” only but not college sports. Yeah, that’s going to go down well. It’s not like they have friends that are professional athletes or anything like that.

Great points in here about the NBA allowing gambling into their homes. I'm sure there are more shady characters allowed into team facilities and NBA events than ever before. They invited the drug dealers into their homes, now they're going to condemn anyone who takes them.

Sports betting has and will ruin many people's lives, and we're not even close to seeing the worst of it yet. Idk Beasley's specific situation, but I'm sure many players are threatened with harm to them and their families if they don't go along with certain demands from gamblers. The NBA and the podcasters are currently making a lot of money, but this is not going to end well for most people involved.
