The means to get that number are just very difficult. Basically just Brooklyn cap or s&t to Atlanta (into their $23-25m TPE), where, with raises, they can get to like $27-28m over 4 years?

LAL would probably be down to sign and trade DFS just for the TPE right? Can fit him into the KD trade

I wouldn't worry too much about roster construction at this point - if they think JK has untapped potential they might as well see if they can unlock it. If Ace, JK, and Lauri are all popping off in 2 years, that's a good problem to have.

Kuminga has already proven he is going to be a problem if you have guys getting opportunities in front of him, paying him 30 million dollars to continue that seems insane. I don't know, I just don't see why a team would be willing to take the sizable risk he wants on a guy who is a below average scorer with tunnel vision. The problem isn't going to be all three of them popping off, it's going to be paying a sizable portion of the cap to a bad player with a bad attitude.

I mean obviously if you think he’s a bad player or going to be buried you don’t do it. But Ace isn’t (and shouldn’t be) a 30 mpg guy from day 1 and it’s not like Utah is bursting with offensive talent outside of Lauri. Give him a frontloaded 3 year deal with a team option at the end and if he becomes a problem you can cut ties with him.

(He shouldn’t be getting $30m a year regardless though)

Yes why not

Does this benefit you guys to also use mle on someone else like Kennard or NAW?

Would Hou consider DFS into tpe and send us Whitmore and we do a pick swap in 2026?

Yep really hard to work out a SNT for that amount with BYC concerns on top of lack of cap space....Give me the under 20m and expect to be shocked. It can be done but I don't see teams jumping through the hoops required to pay Naw or Grimes 25m+ outside of Brooklyn doing something dumb.

Yeah, they wouldn't have space below the apron for the whole mle but someone like Kennard for more than the t MLE would be the idea. I think Cam is not long for this team but rockets don't have a 26 pick to swap

The list of players I dislike the most include, in no particular order

Jordan Poole
Jordan Clarkston
Anthony Davis
Josh Green
Paul George
Jalen Brunson
Anthony Edwards
Kristpas Porzingis
D'Angelo Russell

By the end of the day, my favorite team will have two, and gasp, maybe three, of them.

I think Atlanta is definitely the landing spot I am eyeing.

Read on Twitter

His minimum salary would be $2,667,944 and it would count for the Rockets on their cap sheet/tax calculations as $2,296,271. By getting $3M, he counts the full amount.

$2.6M can round up to $3M though so curious if this is just agents doing PR work to say $3M instead of "minimum" haha

I got it on good authority Clarkson likely signing with Knicks for vet min after his buyout from Jazz. You are spared at least one of the dudes on your list :D

Ayton doesn’t clear waivers until Wednesday. They could announce it I suppose since we all know no one will claim that max contract.

I just don't think Atlanta is going to want to spend much more than MLE when NAW projects as a bench player there. I don't think they are going to sit Daniels or Risacher for him. Maybe the Hawks make it a SNT to beat other MLE teams and offer him a couple million more but something north of 20m a year I would be surprised. Already going to have to pay Daniels quite a bit next year if he keeps up his play. And resign KP?

I like the target for sure but I think teams are getting smarter about paying these type of guys big deals. There will always be some bad deals made but I would bet against it here.
