I don’t get the vibe that the Hornets are wanting to make a winning move with a big free agent center signing. I figure they’ll go into the season with Diabate as starter and Kalkbrenner as the #2. They’ll then sign a dude like Thomas Bryant or Biyombo as #3.

Agree. Don't expect a big splash at 5. Sharpe would be ideal, Bryant would be fine, and a guy to look out for is Mo Wagner - high energy big and now a UFA that can hit the occasional three for five-out. I expect the Nets to resign Sharpe and the Magic to resign Wagner (to keep Franz happy), but the caliber of big I think we'll target.

Idk just seems like a Peterson type of deal. Veteran from a winning team, get paid an asset to take him on, can be a small ball 5 energy big.

Maybe our C target simply has a higher profile than Sharpe.

After the Sexton deal, I kind of expect a needle mover. This acquisition would start, whereas Sexton can flex between starting lineup and bench.

I truly hope you are correct MasterIchiro. I would welcome your earlier suggestion of Claxton, but can’t fathom who we’d send out. Perhaps a 3 way trade. Or their target could be someone like Luke Kornet, who would bring strong defense and some stability while giving Kalkbrenner guidance and veteran support for development. Other than Luke, remaining FA’s are pretty bottom of the barrel.

I honestly think Moussa and Kalk are a good enough center combo, Kalk is old enough and skilled enough to contribute. The only center I can really see them needing since Porzingis is gone is Lopez, but I don't want to lock in too many years to Brook.

I think we should resign Mann because if the Hornets aren't in playoff contention by the all-star break, we should get another asset for Sexton or Mann because no doubt they would be playing well if LaMelo misses time.

Biggest priority for me is getting rid of Josh Green and NSJ's contracts, or combining those two for a wing or 3rd center

I think Sexton was our big move of the off-season. I think Peterson will hold on to those picks until a real impact player becomes available.

I just think our current top 4 scoring options can give us a top 10 offense. Probably, a rudimentary way to look at it but here's their career averages/high seasonal PPG.

LaMelo - 21.0/25.2
Miller - 18.3/21.0
Sexton 18.8/24.3
Miles 15.7/21.0

The 4th scoring option is Miles who scored 21 points in a season.

The oldest is Miles and Sexton - both 26.

It just looks like the makings of a young core.

We can't Mason Plumlee this season with all that scoring talent on this roster right now. It's the most scoring talent we've seen since we won 43 games with LaMelo, Rozier, Hayward, and Miles.

I like Sexton more than Terry and Miller more than Hayward.

Our offense should be a lot better this season (if the team is healthy).

The defense is... awful. Like, really awful. Our best defenders are Diabate and Okogie and Green. And they're also pretty much our only above average defenders.

Thing is you're just looking at the offense. Our roster is pretty bad defensively. As much needed scoring Sexton brings he's also equally bad on defense.

If we are making a big move it needs to be for a real impact player. Trading a few picks for a Claxton is not going to take us to another level.

Now if we talking Bam or even Gobert okay now I can see a team trying to really compete. We need to add some defense to this roster. I like Ben Simmons maybe get him for cheap now we have a real piece that can actually guard the opposing teams best offensive player.

Will be interesting to see what our next move is.

if ball and Miller are healthy next year and our offense is still bad, that's a pretty damning referendum on our coaching. And gave Lee a path last year because implementing a new system on top of injury destruction is tough. No excuses this year for everyone's healthy. Hopefully he watched Indiana and saw the pace at which they played with. We should never be walking the ball up the floor with the offensive talent we have.
