This video shows me he's actually been in the gym. He hasn't shaved his tanktops loose and worn out and has ketchup stains on it, you can tell this mans been working. All those Ben Simmons shooting videos have a $20k budget, slo mo effects, background music.

Good to see he’s working on it but this means nothing until we see him make them consistently in games.

Most serious hoopers can go on these shooting runs in practice where you make 16 straight. That’s good for a high school or college player. Then he fatigues and starts missing them. So he’s not there yet. And not enough clean makes either, which is how you really judge a shooter (or your own practice imo). But still good to see improvement and work. Hopefully in a couple more years he’s able to make 30 in a row with most of them swishes.

Guess I’m not a Raptors fan.

I’ve been around a lot of basketball in my life and this is pretty par for the course for most serious hoopers who aren’t getting by on physical gifts.

Anyway I’m being a bit cynical here. I’m still a big believer in Barnes and that shooting can be developed in the league (look at Pascal), but this video shows improvement, it doesn’t show that he’s good — yet. If he keeps this up though he will get there in a couple more seasons of work.

EDIT: By contrast, here are Duncan Robinson’s makes — swish every time.

The only thing that matters is that hes in the gym working. We dissect a 1 minute video all we want but its just good to see him in the gym shooting.

It’s criminal that the org hasn’t stepped in yet. Barnes has made marginal skill improvements since high school. Whatever he’s doing isn’t working fast enough. And it starts with his high school trainer imo.

compare it to how Castle's training after his rookie season. Seems he's emulating different scenarios to throw him off balance.

He's gone from 15ppg over his first 2yrs to 19ppg over his last to yrs. Another 5ppg increase probably puts him in all NBA territory along with all of his other attributes. Progression isn't always linear, how are we hating on someone who helped got him to where he's at to begin with

I don't hate Scottish or anything, but drafting him really changed the trajectory of our team. I am not saying Suggs is better, but maybe things would have went differently if we drafted Suggs and/or traded Siakam as soon as Scottish was drafted to get a greater return.
