get **** rid of Niang, dont let this slob take minutes from the young guys during this bridge year. if we make the playoffs playing a bunch of young guys with the core then so be it, but let them grow and develop as we wait for JT to heal

IN THEORY, they do have diversity in skill set at the 5... Queta is the plodding rim protector/drop coverage type, Garza is the offensive minded guy, Tillman is the more mobile switch defense guy. Amari Williams is a potential DHO type option.

But right now the Cs really need that dynamic scoring guard.
There's just too much offense lost with JT, KP, and Jrue not there.
Right now the Cs really need offense, especially now that the Cs don't have a rim protector.
What about next year with Tatum? That's really where I'm focused.
Here's the thing, both Simons and Niang are expiring contracts, the Cs will have options next season because they also have that 22m TPE from the KP trade.
Besides, if the season does not go as expected, Cs can make moves at trade deadline.
Or a bigger TPE if they combine the deals like hugepatsfan laid out. Definitely in good shape for summer 2026.

FROM SHAMS:
Free agent center Mason Plumlee has agreed to a one-year, $3.6 million deal with the Charlotte Hornets, sources tell ESPN. The Hornets get some frontcourt depth, completing a contract with Mark Bartelstein of @PrioritySports for Plumlee's 13th NBA season.

baylor, hugo, walsh, jd, all the two way guys. just let them play and see if we have something and evaluate whether they can contribute the following year.

Happy for Kornet. It was time for him to cash in. He’s going to a class A organization and a really good situation.
I like the Cs pivot to Garza. Super cheap deal for a guy that needs minutes.
Not a bad swap for Cs. Kornet is replaceable.

I think you made a mistake. This isn't the Red Claws board.

The team feels rounded out now. Still hoping for Horford, but let’s play!!!!
Jordan Walsh > Lonnie Walker and Charles Bassey

Niang is a 4. He wouldn't block any minutes belonging to those guys. Simons is blocking their minutes.
and that's "MR. Irrelevant" to you!!

Cs still need a rim protector.
The way the Cs play defense, a rim protector is vital.

Besides, if the season does not go as expected, Cs can make moves at trade deadline.
Or a bigger TPE if they combine the deals like hugepatsfan laid out. Definitely in good shape for summer 2026.
How would we use a trade exception in the off-season? We'd have to trade Simons +/- Niang into space for $23-33 space right? And KP exception will expire by off-season and can't be combined - and if we were going to use it, that would be no different than keeping KP..
Any of the flexibility we gain under the apron would only put us back above the apron with a worse roster than we had.

But the Cs have the option of using it or not.

We've got more to do but if either DW or JB misses anytime next year we're probably a 6th-ish seed and could slip into the play-in.
