Maybe Portland will be rewarded for top pick in 2026 taking on Holiday from Boston and waiving Ayton for LA.

I understand that he's probably the most talented playmaking guard we could have gotten with the TPMLE but I do not think he's a winning player and I don't really want his erratic on-court/off-court tendencies to be around Flagg and Lively.
I hope I'm wrong and he's awesome for us though. The good news is that it's a short and small contract.
It is only 5.7M, even Hardy is getting more than that. Can’t complain too much.
It's 13M for 2 years. It can't be 5.7M per.
13M is definitely wrong. The clause is mini MLE of 5.7M and limited to 2 years, and 5% increment for 2nd year.

I see. If DLO is in, then the last spot is a choice between Exum or Mann? Barring any surprise free agent candidates getting waived all of a sudden.
I don't think Dallas were in on Collin Sexton at all. Ainge would have to agree to taking on whatever fillers Dallas was giving, and Dallas would have to pay Sexton a new contract since he's a free agent.
I think the 15-man roster is full already after signing Dlo
KI/Klay/Flagg/AD/Lively
Dlo/Max/Naji/PJ/Gafford
Bwill/Hardy/Celab/Omax/Powell
If so, then Dinwiddie and Exum are both gone. Unless they find a way to dump Omax and hire one of those two back.
I don’t see why we have to bring back Dinwiddie/Exum. What we need to do is to consolidate talent and maintain cap/roster flexibility

What will be your suggestion on how to spend the mini MLE?
Even Eric Gordon is a betetr option than D Lo and Exum
I think no one will be on the same page with you. Not saying Dlo must be good, but at least better than Gordon. And 5.7M is a good and relative low cost gamble.

Depth will be our strength. But if we want to win it all, our top tier of players may not be better than OKC/HOU/DEN.

Lots of loose ends from yesterday
1. Schroeder deal, looks like it was S&T
2. Rockets signed players for more than they can, there has to be a S&T, also they have 3 centers and 3 PFs now all need PT.

Omax being shopped for a future pick most likely. Only way to get below that apron and have a roster spot open is to not recieve anything back.

LA is in shambles after Pelinka saying they're saving cap space for 2027.
Part of me wants Nico to bail them out for another number 1 pick next year. AD for LBJ and #1. Then draft that big Boozer kid.

Denver's making an effort to keep Jokic there long term. Pelinka's betting on him leaving in 2027. So we'll see.

Lakers look like blowing up, DFS > Ayton, Milton and Laravia, I think Luka asking out isn't far fetched.

The main gripe about it is Pelinka willing to stand pat until 2027. Luka will be 29 then? That's wasting a lot of time IMO.
Even if they get gifted Ayton on a buyout this year, he's not signing for the minimum forever. Next season, they have to pay Ayton and Reaves their big deals. Which will eventually eat into their cap as well.
I think there are merits for Luka to move to Orlando. Team's built to cover for his weakness. He's good with the coach. It's in the East where it's easier. And Florida probably has no state income tax. That's 4 solid points versus being Pelinka's cash cow for his career.

Luka to ORL is that I was thinking...
Luka for Franz Wagner and WCJ...

LAL arguably replaced DFS with a better younger player on a cheaper deal. DFS also had an ankle surgery.
Did you hear what Pelinka was doing to DFS?
Yeah lol... but i can't believe he would really be such a moron to go that far. I'm honestly having a hard time believing it's true. I think it's just that Lakers expected him to leave and they went with plan B by saving money to sign extra players.

Dude...
Luka should demand a trade today, this eas a disgrace...
Heh, dunno. Analysts who watched him play say (at this stage) he could be better than a 32y DFS coming from injury and cheaper.

I want to see him contending this year, I had 0 trust in Pelinka before, and I have less now.
DFS was who turned the Lakers season around, they were circling the drain before he joined.

Re: Dallas Mavericks 2025 Trade thread -- Roster and Cap
Pelinka and Reddick need to be on the same chat group. If Pelinka keeps getting guys that JJ won't play then what's the use. New guy can be good but if JJ just views him as Dalton 2.0, he's not getting court time. One saving grace there is Bill Duffy sending Ayton to LA which is reportedly why they voided that Mark Williams deal. But Ayton is not accepting minimum deals forever. You still have to pay him next year and so on.
Fans who have short term memory feel that Pelinka is the second coming of Danny Ainge. Only to realize that without Nico's help, Rob hasn't done a thing since Luka came into the league. On the bright side, the Mavs have a Lakers pick. So the more they suck the better it is for that pick.

Another option, less preferable, is to stretch and waive Powell, opens a roster spot for the vet min.
They could have reached a deal with him to opt out and sign for vet min, counts as 2.3M towards the cap, while he makes 3.65M, maybe they did and Powell wanted to keep the 350K...

It will take some cap gymnastics, but if Luka can bolt to Orlando while keeping that team generally intact, Orlando becomes a finals contender from the East.
Luka
Bane
Wagner
Banchero
Isaac
is better than the product that Indiana has IMO.

Lots of options for the vet min now. If you replace Powell in the lineup with Brogdon or even a Ben Simmons, that's still an upgrade. Powell's 5 minutes for per for those names? Sign me up.
