Would had taken some cap magic to get turner in free agency

Was talking about next year free agents.

We are at LeBron mercy. Lakers will pay him till he wants to leave imo

I don't think there any doubt that Luka will sign that max extension as soon as it is allowed to be offered? Only question will be for how many years.

And I agree on it being a mistake to let DFS go - the deal he signed (even at 4 years) will be easily tradeable in the future. You still have to have reasonably paid solid role players and that is what he is.

This felt likely as soon as Ayton was bought out. I guess Charlotte was a possibility for perhaps a bit more money and less accountability, but it would have been hard to justify after talking about going to a winning situation.

Ayton's a below-average starting center but that's still a big upgrade over a gaping void. The Lakers still feel like they're 2-4 quality rotation players short though and I don't know how that changes.

Finally his free agency concluded.

If it was still ongoing , I would have requested for an Ayton containment thread . Quite a fair number of teams could have done with him for veteran minimum.

For MLE or higher ? Probably not as seems he’s only playing basketball cause it’s pays well and he’s big.

They have no money to offer Horford. He's probably headed to GS.

They have BAE left

This isn’t “free” by any means. They essentially traded DFS who happens to be good friends with Luka for Ayton

It is a good contract. On a team that desperately needs everything he doesnt bring.

Let's see if he stays motivated on the Lakers. He didnt in phx.

Yeap, can’t nitpick too much when it’s a lowish salary contract and they didn’t give up any assets.

Ive said all along i didnt think lakers would go all in during lebron era. They want Luka + giannis/jokic. No nitpick, just feels like not trading for a real defensive center confirms that. Jaden mcdaniels ate this team alive last year, now dfs is gone.

They will look great in regular season. But my guess is another 1st round exit

Why is there no doubt? Getting ayton makes lukas lakers future so sure? Better to wait til next summer and see how it goes and what lakers can do, and if lakers f up, just walk to whatever team that is in a position to win

The Pelinka special: Kicking the can down the road to prioritize flexibility while also losing assets in the process.

It’s a contract year.

Ayton is deluded enough to think he can fool another FO into a fat contract.

Edit:

Bite my tongue, it’s a 2 year deal.
