You're sure he's not Mike Sweetney 2.0?

Width and weight are better than length
Jokes aside, he is talented on offense. Can he defend though?
6"6 with 8"8 standing reach and 6"11 wingspan

With all the youth, I wonder who will get a real chance. Getting a real chance is what matters

Too bad the C's didn't get an invite to the Salt Lake or Cali SL.

Would have been cool to see more action from the young guys since Joe "Doesn't like rookies".

I always feel that way, but this year especially. Of course, they probably could have swung an invite to Salt Lake if they wanted one.

He has way more lateral quickness and explosiveness than Sweetney. Also, he is only 22 and coming off a really productive season in China, where he was MVP. If he makes the team, I'm sure you are aware of what the Australians can do for him.

I'd love to see that transformation. He's also not carrying nearly what Sweetney was.

Here's the schedule:

Friday, July 11: Celtics vs Grizzlies, 4 p.m. ET, NBA TV
Sunday, July 13: Celtics vs Knicks, 5:30 p.m. ET, NBA TV
Monday, July 14: Celtics vs Heat, 8 p.m. ET, ESPNU
Thursday, July 17: Celtics vs Lakers, 9 p.m. ET, ESPN
TBD: Celtics vs TBD, date/time/network TBD

The first four games will also be on NBC Sports Boston, but the Knicks game will air on that channel around 8 p.m. ET, after the Connecticut Sun play the Los Angeles Sparks.

Any word on when the Celtics announce the Official SL Roster?
Also, would love to see some SL Training Videos, if anyone catches any.

I think they've got 12 participants named? Perhaps 2 more to come?

Of course, like the longtime sign off Storrow Drive, "If you lived here, you'd be home by now"; if the C's were one of the 8 teams also playing in 1 of the other 2 SLs, your SL would be starting today.

Things I look for during Summer League:

Do the rookies look like they can hang athletically? Especially when going against experienced players.
What skills do returning players show off? Are they asked to play a very different role and handling it ok?
Are second- and third-year players dominating or just out there? Expectation is that experienced players should stand out.

Here's the 12 listed thus far. I made the three categories and put Baylor in the ball handler category. Over half the roster seems to be the athletic rangy wing type; somebody got to set the table.

The team is looking for guys that can cut, and probably all 7 wings listed are on the bubble this year looking for a spot. The fact that there are a few players with similar profile to Walsh indicates to me that he's going to have to separate himself from the pack. I don't see Minott there, but Bridges looks promising.

Not much in the way of bigs, but hey, it's summer league so those guys usually stand around and watch the backcourt players shoot. Since only a couple bigs now, I think Lofton will get a chance to prove himself (he's got the talent fer sure) and Amari may get some chance to show off his passing if the ball goes through him.

It's certainly looks exciting and competitive on paper. I like this team!

Primary Ball handlers:

Baylor Scheierman 6-6 205
Max Shulga 6-4 190
Hayden Gray 6-4 190

Wings:

Jordan Walsh 6-7 205
Hugo Gonzalez 6-7 225
Jalen Bridges 6-8 220
Miles Norris 6-10 220
Ben Gregg 6-8 190
Aaron Scott 6-7 190
Zach Hicks 6-7 185

Bigs:

Amari Williams 7-0 260
Kenneth Lofton Jr. 6-7 275

This Zach Hicks guy from Penn St caught my attention. 6'7 and shot 41% from 3 last year on 5.8 3PA and 37% in his career on 6.2 3PA. AST/TO over 2 last year as well. Seems like he doesn't have a lot of upside but seems to me he is a little different than the other wings that we are bringing to the SL as someone who stands out with his shooting rather than energy/athleticism. Here's a more detailed write up on him

I like the flyers we're taking on this year's SL roster, looking forward to see who steps up

My SL (practice) prediction is Hugo abuses Walsh.

And yes, I'm going by that 8sec clip of his drive by. :D

JT's gonna quietly tell JB and White "damn, that Hugo kid is making JW look silly"

All they need is to play well enough for a camp invitation (unless already so blessed by Brad), then figure they'll have enough time to work their way up.

Hugo probably quietly enjoying the easiest team practices he's had in some time.
