Best ever NBA game intro

Post#1 » by Ticket » Sun Jul 6, 2025 9:19 am

What's your favorite NBA game intro?

My vote goes to NBA Live 98. I remember watching the full intro every time I played the game.

The fast-paced cuts and soundtrack were seriously ahead of its time.

Get hyped!

Not a fan of that 98 intro, how long is average shot, 0.2 seconds? Such editing legit gives me a headache.

Because it is 20 year old game. It is funny to look back at this, because I remember how amazed at NBA LIVE 2005 graphics I was. It was a huge leap from 2004, everything was reworked from ground up, game looked completely different, you would never see such a leap in graphics in yearly video game release ever again.

But yeah I remember looking at these models thinking how realistic they looked, funny now, but their cyberface skins legit used assets from players' actual photos for the first time, so even in this resolution, you could see defying human characteristics on a lot of these models, where compered to just NBA LIVE 2004 and prior games, all the players were made with random player generator you would yourself use in game, so none of the players prior to 2005 actually looked like themselves. I remember booting NBA LIVE 2005, and Stojakovic having legit hair texture from how he looks in official NBA photos, it was mind blowing in 2005.

I still remember my NBA LIVE 2005 campaign and were I left it off, and now I think, we have players in the NBA, who weren't even born when I played that... I figured out modding at that time, it was very simple to export dynasty rosters to regular roster, you just needed to copy two files, I remember figuring it out myself. And then modding tools very simple, I was making FIBA mod for me and my friend, we used to play it all the time.

NBA Live 2003 had the best intro track with Fabo. Man, just watched the video on YouTube and somehow I still remembered the lyrics.

Come to think of it, '03 might be the GOATed year between Street Vol 2 and Live 2003

The 98 and 2000 ones were dope, no question. For me it's the 95 one on PC. Had played the game on the SNES at a friends place (only had a NES) and was blown away when I got it after we bought our first PC a few months later. The intro, pre game introduction and player stats with pictures made the SNES version look like it came out on an Atari.

I think what stands out the most is that you can really tell how much passion and love for the game is in these older games, compared to how soulless the modern ones feel.

Great call, looks dope! Wish it was longer.

going from playing double dribble and tecmo nba basketball to Live 95 was an experience. I couldn't believe I was actually watching proper NBA footage in my computer

This game was so far ahead of it's time. Free roam open world going around playing nba players in street ball
