I know Lakers have high standards as do their fans, but common, Hayes averaged like 6 points and 4 rebounds and LESS than 2 points & 2 rebounds in the Playoffs and people don't see Anton as an UPGRADE? LOL, people...!
Call me an optimist, but don't ya think he may just have a bit MORE motivation being OFF a crapy Portland team? Might have a bit more to PROVE after be dumped? Might play with MORE conviction when playing with LeBron and Luka? You don't think he wants to sign another BIG contract? And the ONLY way to do that is to FOCUS and PERFORM...!
He was at 15 and 10 last year and I don't see why he could NOT improve on those numbers, playing for a WINNING organization! He's young, not old like the other RETREAD Centers that were FA's and in case some don't know this: Danny Ainge is running the Jazz, he said he does NOT want to trade Kessler and he surely still HATES the Lakers and was asking WAY MORE than the Lakers were willing to offer!
Let's show him some love & respect and see how that works, BEFORE complaining....
The CURE said it best..."Nothing Left But FAITH".....

Re: Ayton
He misbehaved to get out of there. He’ll do better here simply because he won’t hate it here.
He’s in a contract year which is also for the legacy of his career.
Luka and LBJ are two of the best passers, ever.
He should likely have a career year as he’s entering his prime.
If he doesn’t ditch his PS5 addiction for this moment in his real life, he’ll be a vet min perpetual moving player on bad teams. If ge gets serious, he can get another big contract, maybe become a champ.
JJ stressing rebounding and forcing him to focus on the defensive game plan, DA will already improve last year’s stats.
With Luka and Bron feeding him he’s easily a 22-10 guy. In his sleep.
He avoids contact on both ends. That’s worrisome to me. He should have a couple of blocks per game at that size. Has he ever fouled out? Time to get physical, DA! Dominate!
Great jump shooter from around the FT line and in. Great lob threat. And since he camps out around the FT line, I’m sure Luka will add that pocket pass to feed him where DA wants it. Which should open the block up for a baseline lob threat or a bounce pass for a corner 3 pt shooter. Ayton WILL pull his C out there with him, or he’ll just make that open jumper all night.
Luka will find him.

Is he a good lob threat? I'm hearing he's sort of a jump shooting big. Is he more like Jaxon Hayes/Mark Williams or Adebayo/Vucevic?

He’s like 7’2” with great hops and has a serious wing span so yes, he’s a great lob threat. He’s not a physical big. So far, he’s mostly a jump shooter. With CP3, he was a lob threat and he will be again with Bron and Luka.
With Luka, he will add the short roll to his game. Luka will add the pocket pass for when he hovers at the FT line. He’s automatic from 15’.
I think it’ll work. Ayton said in the presser that he wants to prove the world wrong about him. That’s a healthy, humble approach. I’m in.

7'1" with a 7'6" wingspan
He's got a jumper and some lob thump. Also-
Deandre Ayton is the only player in NBA history to average at least 15 points while shooting 60% or better in postseason play according to the NBA.com. He is also one of four players to average at least 10 points and 10 rebounds in each of the past seven seasons, alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo, Rudy Gobert, and Nikola Vučević. Additionally, he is the only player to average a double-double in points and rebounds in his first seven NBA seasons since Dwight Howard according to FOX Sports.
. Ayton, who is the first player to average at least 10 points and 10 rebounds in each of his first seven seasons since Dwight Howard, knows he has a lot to prove.
He has heard the criticism and says he's ready to use it as motivation as he attempts to amend his script alongside LeBron James and Luka Doncic.
"It fuels me," Ayton said. "It fuels me up completely. And it’s a different type of drive that I’ve been wanting to express for a long time. I think this is the perfect timing, here in the purple and gold. And it’s a platform that I cannot run from."

Yeah, it really does seem like the universe lined up for us again. Ayton is saying all the right things. The timing could be that of a perfect storm.
If Ayton beasts on both ends like his talent suggests he can… If Luka plays some defense… If Bron delivers a $52.4M season… If Reaves builds a stronger core; we can win it all.

Ayton has a pretty high vertical but the thing is he doesn't typically go all out so he jumps like at 70 to 80 percent of his capacity so he opts more for lay ins and mid range jumpers which led to a lot of Suns fans to complain that he would never dunk the ball.
While Ayton is super efficient he gets his points during the flow of the game so his efficiency plummets if you have to get him to really try and manufacture points on plays that aren't lobs or open jumpers but when you have Luka and LBJ on this team you really don't need Ayton to do more than just finish around the rim and rebound the ball.
If Luka and JJ can make a concerted effort to get Ayton involved on offense and not think of him as an afterthought as he was in Portland and at times in Phoenix I don't see why he can't average close to 20 points per game. Hopefully he can stay motivated and prove his haters wrong.

Re: Ayton
After hearing him, I too am very excited about his signing. This is a guy has always pretty much flew under the radar of the basketball experts, but in this environment, it is a perfect situation to take his game to another level!
The Lakers lost (center) Davis who averaged something like 25-12 and I'm relatively sure Anton can be a 18-10 guy, which will take up 75% of the void created by the Davis trade.. Add that to Luka (24ppg), LeBron (25ppg) and Reaves (20ppg) and the Lakers may just have a BIG FOUR!!!
