They're basically the same player. Herro isn't as physically strong nor athletic though, so he can be relentlessly hunted come playoff time.

They are not the same player, Herro plays point.

Powell is a big upgrade if only for Robinson and nothing else.

Herro is not really a point guard though. He's a shooting guard masquerading as a point. He doesn't actually do much playmaking for other people. He's a play finisher, same as Powell.

He didn't say he is point, but he is right that Herro plays point. Kind alike Murray or SGA, are they really points? Herro at least has some ability to play point, Powell really has no passing chops at all it seems. Herro gets hunted on defense tho, I think they both borderline all stars maybe type of guys, which is good, but you need better players around them, at least one at bare minimum, but ideally two or more.

Agreed. To be honest, the Heat are pretty aimless right now with where they're going. Good value is good value tho, and the got the best player in the trade, so can't fault them... but don't see much of a plan there either.

Also, I think building around Herro is not something I would be stoked on.

One of those rare trades where everybody wins. Miami gets a dynamic scorer who is comfortable coming off the bench for a minor investment. Utah saves a bunch of money and helps their tank. The Clippers finally get an athletic stretch power-forward and open up space in their guard rotation.

John Collins is a fantastic player stuck on a team that really struggled. Once playing with James Harden, expect his numbers to really jump.

I thought it’s the Cippers that gave up a pick?

Norm is not a new flavor for the NBA. He is a veteran who has consistently produced his entire career. On the Clippers, he was forced into the starting role and he exceeded expectations. But, he is still a 6th man. His athleticism, size, passing and BBIQ are not what is needed to be a #1 or #2 option and he cannot really fit any other role except for 6th man. That is why he had (and has always had) zero interest in the open market.

I doubt the Clippers trade Norm if not for the Bogi acquisition where Bogi just played way better defense and had much better BBIQ. Also, the Beal situation is having its impact where my guess is Beal won't take a discount for a bench role. We know Beal has been talking with teams, so the timing of this trade seems to be indicative as to the progression of those talks.

Ultimately, Norm has a very limited market, and this trade just seemed to scratch everybody's itch.

When Collins (and Sexton too for that matter) were off the floor they were giving those minutes to kids such as Cody Williams and Keyonte George that were negative players. I expect the Jazz to be awful next season but their kids including Ace will get a ton of shots.

Jazz are trying to do everything in their power to not give up a 1st to OKC...

I think this is a pretty solid trade for all teams.

probably says more about the lack of talent they had behind Collins than it does about his specific impact, but still pretty bonkers.

Miami is going to be the same team regardless, but at least they got some scoring for nothing.

I like this for the Clippers. The West is becoming an arms race for bigs, and they loaded up.

And the Jazz...deeper in the tank, but whatever.

The poll options about who won are stupid. First of all why do we have to evaluate trade from a win/lose lens? And why not more options? Everyone seems to have done well in this one.

It means they can both start or play side by side. Its not one or the other. But they are hardly the same player.

Keyonte George / Isaiah Collier / Walter Clayton Jr.
Cody Williams / Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk / Jaden Springer
Ace Bailey / Kenyon Martin Jr. / Brice Sensabaugh
Lauri Markkanen / Kyle Anderson / Taylor Hendricks
Walker Kessler / Jusuf Nurkic / Kyle Filipowski / Kevin Love

Kris Dunn
James Harden / Cam Christie
Kawhi Leonard / Bogdan Bogdanovic
John Collins / Derrick Jones Jr / Nicolas Batum / Kobe Brown
Ivica Zubac / Brook Lopez / Yanic Konan Niederhauser

Terry Rozier / Davion Mitchell / Kasparas Jakucionis
Tyler Herro / Norman Powell / Pelle Larsson
Andrew Wiggins / Jaime Jaquez Jr / Simone Fontecchio
Haywood Highsmith / Nikola Jovic / Keshad Johnson
Bam Adebayo / Kel'el Ware

I'd expect Love to be waived by Utah.

Nice move by Clips. They needed to get bigger at the 4 and stop playing Kawhi and DJJ there, they got younger and more athletic, they have a logjam at the 2/3 spot, they match up better with the Nuggets/Aaron Gordon now who is kinda the swing factor in those series.
